Université Laval ou Sherbrooke

Bonjour,

Merci

How can I stop being such a pick me ?

I noticed something about myself, every time I go out I scan if I see attractive men. I sign up for activities and wonder if Theres men or if they find me attractive. I used to be on tinder only for the male validation with no interest on going on dates. Hanging out with a man that I find attractive or getting male attention is like a drug to me. I’m disgusted by how my brain works . Why can’t I do things for me, to enjoy myself. Why am I so male centered and how do I stop. 😔🫩 I hate this

I don’t know how to stop feeling like this , I hate having a bf

Hi girlies,

I don’t know if I’m the only one that thinks like this but I am starting to really hate being a girlfriend. Every time that I am in a relationship (I am in one currently ) , I feel jealous that my partner find other girls attractive ( i know its human nature and I am not blind.) My current bf watches porn and Im starting to look at him with disgust. I hate having to text my partner, explaining why certain things he does hurt me. I just feel its a full time job and a draining chore. I hate having to worry or think about another person constantly. When I am single and I am talking to a guy, I really don’t care what girls he is attracted to . I feel like This is my life and I should not spent all my youth feeling like this. I don’t know how to explain, i don’t find myself unattractive and my bf is not really my type of guys normally so I have no idea why my brain is this way. I am so ashamed and devastated that all I think about is a man , I don’t think I want to have a bf ever or Even a husband. anyone else is like this ?

How fast would you quit this job ?

I’m a 20-year-old student working alone at a convenience store for $19/hour, about 24 hours a week. We sell a lot of cigarettes, alcohol, and lottery tickets.

My managers and coworkers are great, but the job is becoming mentally draining.

Most shifts I’m alone. If I need to go to the bathroom, I have to lock the store. I don’t get proper breaks because customers come in constantly, so eating during a shift can be difficult.

The customer interactions are what wear me down. I’ve had customers make inappropriate comments, ask if I was an exotic dancer, make racist remarks, hang around the store for long periods just to talk, or come in obviously intoxicated.

One customer went on a rant about not wanting to support Arabs because they’re “terrorists,” then asked me to recommend a Lebanese restaurant. He also made racist comments about a soccer team. Another customer regularly buys a drink and then stays around trying to chat for a long time. He wont leave. Customers that are grown adults (40 years old ) smoking weed in front of the store and tweaking out.

Recently, a customer was yelling and causing a scene. Afterwards, two women told me they felt bad for me and thanked me for my patience. I ended up crying because I realized other customers could see how stressful the situation was.

The other day I had to step outside and vape because I felt like I was going to cry for the rest of my shift.

I started at the end of April. The pay is $19/hour, which isn’t terrible, but I don’t know if the stress is worth it, I mentally cannot do more than 24 hours a week so I only get 1800$ a month.

Am I overreacting, or is this a reasonable reason to leave a job after only a couple of months?

Just buy your things and leave

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but retail and customer service workers are not your friends.

We’re paid to be polite, greet you, answer questions, and help you find what you need. That doesn’t mean we want to have a 20-minute conversation about your weekend, your ex, your medical problems, your divorce, your politics, or every detail of your life.

I work in customer service and some days I’m mentally exhausted. I’ve been standing for hours, dealing with difficult customers, inappropriate comments, complaints, and a constant stream of people. Then someone comes in for a pack of cigarettes or a lottery ticket and suddenly wants to have a full conversation.

And honestly? Sometimes when people ask me “Are you okay?” the answer is no. I’m tired. I’m drained. I’m counting down the minutes until my shift ends. But I’m at work, so of course I’m going to smile and say I’m fine.

Please don’t take this personally, but most of us would rather you buy your stuff, be respectful, and leave.

Being kind is appreciated. Treating us like your personal therapist is not. and STOP telling me to SMILE

Would YOU quit?

I started at the end of April. The pay is $19/hour, which isn’t terrible, but I don’t know if the stress is worth it. I also have another possible job opportunity coming up.

Another thing that drains me is that people constantly try to turn me into their therapist. A lot of customers don’t just come in, buy their stuff, and leave. They stay and start long conversations, tell me their life stories, complain about their families, relationships, health problems, finances, or other personal issues. I know some people are lonely, but after hours of this every week, it becomes exhausting. For gods sake I am a stranger. You could add:

Financially, I’m making about $1,800 a month before taxes working around 24 hours a week. I know that’s not terrible for a student, but I honestly don’t feel like it’s enough to justify how mentally exhausting the job is becoming.
