To everybody that thinks they know Cavalli’s intentions because of where he is from.

Love the pod, love the boys, usually a defender of them tooth and nail, but I have to speak my piece on this one

The idea that Cade Cavalli definitely meant what he said in an overtly racist way – and further that there is no way he could actually be contrite about it afterwords – because he is from Oklahoma is just lazy, stereotyping, coastal elitism horse shit.

First, just a PSA, Texas and Oklahoma are not part of the Deep South. Southwestern dudes be calling eachother “boy” all the time and as much as you might want it to be, it’s just not a racism thing there. Think the Dallas Cowboys “we dem boys”, think “that boy ain’t right”. Disrespectful, sure. Saying "sit down boy" in that situation is still super out of pocket – especially to somebody going through what Contreras is back home. But if you grew up playing ball in Texas or Oklahoma you heard guys say that shit to each other a million times on the diamond (ex. “swing that shit, boy”). It doesn’t have the weird racial ownership connotation it has in the Deep South that you saw on Django Unchained. I can 100% believe Cavlli said that without realizing the racial undertones it has on the east coast, and felt bad about it after. They are two different places, and saying somebody is for sure racist because he is from Oklahoma while gushing over Payton Tolle is pretty fucking dumb.

Second, Contreras did not take it in a racist context despite the beat reporters trying to get the sound bite from him and damn near put the words directly in his mouth. I'm so sick of people like Coley (a white guy who lives in the whitest part of the entire country) telling brown people how they should feel, as if he is so much smarter than them and they just don't know enough to be offended by what was said.

Let’s stop trying to make this something it’s not just because dude has a southern accent. Cavalli is a dickhead, and yes probably a Republican, but that doesn't make him an out and out Klan member.

88 Econoline Fuel System troubleshooting

I'm working on a 1988 Ford E150 that had been sitting for a number of years. I was told it
"Just needs a fuel pump," and did start on ether. Cool, but when I dropped the front tank it was gunk city – could not even scrub it off the sides , so I replaced with new fuel tank and installed a new in-tank fuel pump/sending unit assembly to that.

As before, the van only starts on ether. So I’m thinking still a fuel delivery issue.

So far I’ve
• Replaced fuel tank with a new one
• Replaced in-tank fuel pump/sending unit assembly
• Replaced fuel filter
• Replaced the tank selector/reservoir with one from a junkyard (the aftermarket ones are a bit sketch)
• Blew compressed air through the lines, and they seemed open

What I'm seeing:
• Fuel pump flows for about 3 seconds at prime and shoots/spurts about 6-8 inches from the tank outlet, but once the hoses are connected, barely any fuel seems to make it to the tank selector/reservoir
- Fuel is extremely low pressure out of hose just before tank selector and none at all past it.
• The frame-mounted high-pressure pump does seem to kick on when priming

My questions are, am I likely on the right track diagnosing the rear pump and surrounding hoses/wiring, or is fuel getting to the selector reservoir at all enough for the high-pressure pump to take over and pull it through generally? Should I be worried about that front fuel pump/ selector at all right now or still focus on the lower pressure sections before the selector?

All the rubber fuel lines look fine from the outside, but as I said, the tank was gunk city and that worries me about the inside — even though compressed air gets through pretty steady. I think going to replace the EFI hose from tank to selector tomorrow and see if I can get any change in fuel flow.

Really trying not to shotgun parts but I will replace if I can be sure. Any guidance here from anyone experienced with these systems? I don’t want to just be chasing my tail if I can help it.

Thanks a bunch!
