Japan - winter time

What have your experiences been digital nomading in Japan? Jan and Feb seem very cheap - is there a catch?

I’ll likely be transitioning to a hybrid job next spring and want to spend a month or two in Japan this winter. I’m thinking Jan + possibly February. Four star hotels in mid sized cities (500 k or so inhabitants) cost less than €1,500/month which seems very affordable.

Most efficient way of getting from B2 to C1

What has been the most efficient way of getting from B2 to C1?

I have been learning German as a hobby since August but I’ve realised the past few months that I want to move to Germany and work there. I recently started applying to some jobs within process management (healthcare sector). I passed the first screening but then didn’t pass the second one. I contacted the company and they said that B2 isn’t enough. I need C1 German.

I am currently taking two private classes per week. I’m spending one hour daily studying which I can level up to 2-3 h. Any input would be most helpful.

Georgia, Armenia and Romania - safety considerations

How safe or unsafe have you found Georgia, Armenia and Romania? Insights about the Balkans would be appreciated too. Mostly looking for experiences from other women.

I’ve been thinking about doing Japan, Korea and Taiwan for this summer but flight prices to Georgia are very affordable from my location so now I’m considering Tibilisi, Yerevan and Bucharest. I do tend to get a lot of male attention and it has caused me issues in the past so I do want to remain cautious. I am half Polish and half Persian but people assume that I’m Spanish, Italian or Argentinian especially since I speak fluent Spanish with an Argentinian accent.

Countries were you as a woman felt safe

Which countries have felt safe to other women?

I’m currently in Germany and planning where I want to travel/temporarily stay this summer and fall. Japan, S Korea and Taiwan are on my list and a week in Poland to visit family. However I’m also considering Malaysia, Portugal and the Balkans but uncertain. I get a lot of male attention and in Tenerife this winter it didn’t go well for me - eyes on my absolutely everywhere, guys who screamed when I turned them down, sexual behavior towards me and one guy even got aggressive and I sprained my ankle and flew to Germany the day after. I’ve had an unpleasant incident on the French-German border as well and in Sweden too though Sweden has mostly felt fine. It all really affected me to the point where I needed to start therapy recently.

So really want to be careful and not cause myself issues.

Great date that ended poorly - did therapy help you?

I (f28) went on a date with m(26) 2,5 weeks ago and something that started out wonderfully ended poorly and I’m now looking to improve myself. Feel free to share your own experiences

So We had a great time - lots in common, he was respectful and gentle, asked great questions and I was curious about him too, attraction, more laughter than with anyone else I’ve met on a first date etc. He had just gotten back from a business trip the day before and the morning after I was flying out so the ending of the date got a little rushed as I had to pack. We hugged goodbye and he expressed that he wanted to really see me when I was back. I was definitely enthusiastic about him but blanked, got into the uber saying “I’ll text you when I’m back”. I texted him a few days later saying that I had had a great time and told him the day I was coming back.

I did not realise that I had behaved poorly towards him until week after when he wasn’t communicating with me. I should also say that this was the first date I had after a really bad incident end of Feb where a guy grabbed me and I sprained my ankle. So during the rushed date ending I froze and my mind went blank despite that I really liked the recent guy. I tried calling him and I texted him three times apologising and trying to explain and tell him that I didn’t want to see him and that I had appreciated him. He has not replied and I’ve started therapy. I have a hard time connecting with people and I’m really upset with myself and want to improve.

How problematic is it working remotely from China?

How complicated is it starting up a US/EU business when staying in China?

I am considering a month in Japan + S Korea in July and then a month in China. I am concerned about things like access to different websites and social media as I’m starting up a business.

Do you think that a budget of €6,500 is realistic for a month between Japan and S. Korea including flights?

I have indoor mold allergies so will prioritise new hotels. Will split my time 50/50 between large cities and more mid-sized/smaller ones. Will travel during lower season, likely July/start of Aug.

Flights: Berlin-Japan, Japan-Korea, Korea-Berlin €1,900-2,000

Hotels: €2,500 (but if needed can increase)

Food: €1,200

Trains and taxis: €600

Miscellaneous: €200-300

Tot: €6,400-6,600

Plus even more unpictured carrots, two large plums and a package of blackberries. Gluten and dairy free. High protein and high fibre.

I’m travelling a lot this year but still prioritising a lot of exercise and healthy food. It’s doable.
