How far away are we from decriminalised weed in Ireland?

Sick of having to spend 2/3 hours every 4/5 weeks phoning around, seeing anything available organising pick ups etc. Such a waste of time and so infuriating, to get a fkin plant! I mean, 0 deaths per year, 1400 deaths per year compared to alcohol. Not to mention the violence and sexual assaults, hospital admissions from alcohol , compared to what I imagine is basically zero again for weed. Should I not just be able to go into a shop to buy this and let the state take its cut. It's 2026 ffs. All i want is a bit of smoke the odd evening and weekend when I'm practising/producing music. I'm not ! serial smoker , have a full time job etc. And then there is also the worry of a roadside test that might pick up traces of weed, which would probably result in me losing my job! A mate said there was something on the rte this week with regards to decriminalisation but didnt catch the details. Any word on this? And before all yee city heads chime in saying 'oh you can get it delivered like pizza etc' im in the countryside and it doesnt exactly grow on tress here. Pun intended.

If your in the border counties - say Fermanagh, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth area- is it better to live north or south?

I'm a bit unsure what to do at the moment and would appreciate all your lovely insights. I'm starting a new job in a boarder county in august. Am locked into accommodation for 3 months in the south. But then might look to move to the north. Trying to weigh up the benefits/negatives of both. Ive just come recently from ten years working over in UK, so this would work in my favor surely with regards to having ni number, p60 tax codes etc for moving up north? I am entitled to state pension there and have private pension there also 8 years. How does it work with taxes etc , im a bit confused about that? Also the northern rural towns can have a bit of a grtty feel which doesn't appeal. I'm the people are lovely, its just something in the air I cant explain. But then id only be 20 mins from family in the south, sports clubs etc. Anyone do this, or vice versa? Any insights?

How can I make living very near the border work for me?

My friend says I should 'rent' a shit box room in the north for like 50£ a week to have a northern adress.meybe stay there a night or two a week (be like.10mins away from home) He's a bit of a chancer though, wants me to sign up to medical weed on nhs ! But he was saying free dental, prescriptions, some othe things I can't remember. Something to with car/road tax. I'm not long back in ireland long after a stint away, but this is all shady stuff isn't it :) could I get in any real trouble for.something like this? He's a bit of schemer though, so it doesn't suprise ne. Any 'normal' ways to benefit living very close.to the border?

What would our Norway 'rowing' thing be?

Loving this rowing thing the Norway fans are doing. God forbid we ever got to a world cup , what would our 'thing' be, how could we strike fear into the hearts of our opponent and demonstrate unity? The Riverdance?

Why are Spain going OUT in the betting for World Cup Winner?

They are 7/1 now to win the world cup, which seems crazy to me. They have been one of the best teams and are just getting into top gear. France 5/2 favorites seems nuts. I'm not convinced at all by them. They have a devestating attack, but look vulnerable in other areas. Spains midfield is vastly superoor to France. I mean Ive been backing Spain since Janurary at 4/1 , 9/2 ish and now they are 7/1!? Im gonna have to back them again now :) . Am I missing something? 7/1 seems very generous.

Who has been your favourite team to follow in the world cup so far?

Cape Verde story is great, but gotta say Japan so far for me. They are very exciting to watch, diminutive in statue but very tenacious and skillfull in possession. Fans are very respectful, they often clean up their own rubbish. Fans are hotties also!

Am I being gaslit by my physciatrist and sister? Very confused.

Sorry if this rambley but I'm quite stressed , anxious and confused and would appreciate any insights into this situation. I had a bipolar episode a few years ago during covid and was hospitalised fora few days. I have been fine from then since, with regards to manic episodes since, only ever the one. My sister comments that I seem a little elevated lately. In the last year I have done quite a lot, worked a lot, doing additional CPD courses etc , learning sign language, , started rebuilding relationships again, exercising and now have secured a permanent position in a secondary school starting in August. I feel a bit better lately so maybe seem more energised than usual. I really objected to her coming. She has once or twice about a year ago, not since then, to stop her giving me grief I decide to let her come. The whole thing was a clusterfuck and felt like a hatchet job from the start. I was 15 minutes late to the meeting due to a slow puncture and had to take another car to get there. The pysciatrist used this as evedinece of being in a manic episode, being late and disorganised? She also commented on my hoody that had paint on it, (I had been paiting the day before) as not been able to present well snd take care of myself. She then proceeded to tell me-in a very aggressive manner - that if I were to present like this at the school in aigust I would be fired ? I had been in there 2 days before doing paperwork for my new job. My sister agreed with her and I felt like they were ganging up on me. I then said they were being crazy not me and I tried to leave but they both moved to block the door, this was really triggering for me as I have had bad experiences in mental health facilities in the past with locked doors. I had to get out of there so i just left. The hospital keep ringing me to make an appointment but I dont want to go back there, she was so unprofessional and abrasive. I just want to keep getting my medication and not have to see a physciahrist every 3 months, is there a way to do this? Should I say something to someone about the physiatrist(not sure who) , she was very unprofessional and confrontational, what if she was like this witg other vulnerable patients? For context I see my physiatrist every few months just for a 20 min med review and not much else happens there, we have a very amicable relationship. My sister has already taken the side of the physiatrist and says I was overreacting? I mean how can I feel so much worse (its 5am and I cant sleep) after being to the doctors. This really doesnt make any sense to me, am I being unreasonable?

Best Group Outright Bets For World Cup

Alright Gang.

What we thinking are the best group outright bets for the World Cup? Sporting Life served me well during the regular season. They have a 13/1 acca tipped for the groups, but I need a few more selections to add a bit more juice. Not looking ML bets here on individual games, outright winners or player outright bets, just group bets. Want to spread interest out over numerous games.

  • Mexico Group A winner
  • Switzerland Group B winner
  • USA /Turkey Dual Forecast (any order) Group D
  • Belgium/Egypt Dual Forecast Group G

Co-hosts MEXICO have a huge advantage in Group A, playing all of their group games with home advantage, which features heat, altitude and a raucous crowd.

They have been drawn in a kind looking group too and given the success they've had in North America in recent years - winning the last two Gold Cups in 2023 and 2025 as well as the Nations League in 2025 - they are a strong fancy TO WIN GROUP A ahead of South KoreaCzechia and South Africa.

SWITZERLAND reached the last 16 of the last two World Cups and made the quarter-finals of the last two Euros and look the class of Group B, with their quality and tournament experience expected to see them make a mark at yet another tournament, starting by WINNING THE GROUP.

Co-hosts Canada have major injury issues, Bosnia aren't at Switzerland's level and Qatar are possibly the worst side at the tournament.

The third and final co-host, the USA, have impressed against a very difficult friendly schedule and should have enough TO FINISH IN THE TOP 2 of Group D alongside ever-improving TÜRKIYE - a side with a nice blend of quality, youth and experience.

Those two are strongly fancied to outperform a Paraguay team who are untrustworthy on their travels and an Australia likely to be lacking in forward areas.

While BELGIUM may not be a strong fancy for many at this tournament, the Red Devils should possess too much attacking quality for their Group G opponents, who are all lacking bite. EGYPT are the most likely side to contend for the top spot and backing both teams TO FINISH IN THE TOP 2 in any order appeals.

Egypt's defence is rock solid and they do have quality individuals in forward areas. This bet makes sense given the opposition, with Iran not the team of yesteryear before even factoring their off-field issues, and New Zealand the lowest-ranked side at the World Cup.

Who wins the world cup?

What we reckon gang? Got a 100£ to put down on this. Finding it hard to look past Spain or France. Boring I know, but France attack /Spains midlfield look too good for the rest of the field for me.
