PC downloads stuck at 4–7 KB/s, need help troubleshooting
My PC has extremely slow downloads (around 4–7 KB/s), and apps fail to launch or install properly. Minecraft downloads are also extremely slow.
PC specs:
RTX 3060
Intel i5-9400F
16 GB RAM
Modified/debloated Windows installation
What I’ve tried:
DISM and SFC scans
DNS flush and Winsock/TCP-IP resets
Checked DNS, ping, HTTPS connectivity, and proxy settings
Started BITS successfully
Tested Cloudflare downloads
Tested in Safe Mode with Networking, with the same slow speeds
Findings:
Other devices on my internet work normally.
PC is connected via Ethernet to a Wi-Fi extender.
Ethernet link reports 1 Gbps.
Ping works with 0% packet loss, DNS works, and HTTPS returns HTTP 200.
Downloads still time out at roughly 4–7 KB/s.
Problems started around a Windows update. My surge protector was also switched off and back on while the PC was running around that time.
I’m out of ideas. What should I test next to identify the root cause before reinstalling Windows? This just started happening a couple of days ago.
