hi guys ! sorry in advance if this is stupid or if i’m overreacting 😭 i’ve been stressing out over my cats (two 11-month-old brothers, both neutered) for the past month or so. my mom and i are leaving overseas for 5 weeks - this is the first time we’re going on vacation ever since we adopted our cats. they’ll be staying at home with our dad so i’m not worried about daily maintenance. however, i am super worried about them potentially becoming depressed or feeling like i abandoned them 🥹🥹

they have plenty experience and no issues being away from me for long hours during the day, as far as i know. they have plenty of toys and each other to play with whenever they’re bored. i’ve never left them overnight, though, and this especially concerns me ☹️ whenever i’m home they spend the entire day with me, and we sleep together in my bed every night

personality-wise, one of our boys is super lively and energetic. he loves attention and he loves playing with my dad. he also loves wrestling with and grooming his brother :) his brother is the complete opposite though. he’s quiet, laidback, and doesn’t seem to be bonded with either of my parents - only me and his brother. he’s also really skittish around my dad for some reason, hisses at him occasionally, and is only willing to come remotely near him whenever it’s feeding time. he’s super attached to me, on the other hand. he’s glued to my side 24/7 and will constantly love on me :D

will they be okay being alone with only my dad for a month?? they’ll be home alone in the morning after they’re fed and my dad leaves for work. they’ll be fed again once my dad comes home. then, they’ll be home alone for a little while longer when my dad leaves for the gym in the afternoon, and will be fed once he comes home later at night. my dad will also make it a point to play with them then.

is there anything i can do to make my leave less hard on them?? should i be worried?? thank you in advance for your help !

tldr: mom and i are leaving for a month long vacation in a week, and it’s the first time our cats have been away from me overnight. they will be left at home and regularly taken care of by my dad (one cat loves him, the other one is scared of him). are they gonna be okay??
