Vacations for the "leave-less" COS worker: do you also have trips/activities planned yearly?

Hi all. I realized during our end-of-contract evaluation that I was on my steady way to burnout (if I'm not there already lol).

Apparently, just journaling didn't do it for me; while the words were pouring out of my mouth, explaining my situation to my boss, I came to understand just how exhausting my life had been lately. It was all work and barely any play (even my hobbies had been neglected).

Part of it may have had something to do with zero paid leaves that I can use. No work, no pay; OT = TY most of the time; pag late, kaltas agad. Good luck being sick or feeling menstrual cramps so bad, you have to take the day off.

I guess my point is: from now on I'm going to book vacations months ahead so I have something to look forward to. Doesn't have to be fancy; maybe 2-3 days alone in a completely new province. I'm also dedicating a monthly dine out day to try new restos nearby.

Kayo, what do you do when you plan your vacations/breaks? Akala ko dati okay lang kung puro trabaho. Kailangan ko pala talagang iwan (literal) yung stress sa trabaho.

TIA!

Thoughts on paying for trainings out of pocket when your work can pay for it?

Hi all! I found a newly posted online training by PIPAC which I'm very interested to join... kaso lang, it's a paid training.

I work in a newly established (tbh, we're still establishing lots things) lab in a SUC and while our lab has the budget for trainings, it's a long process getting approved on time for the training's payment deadline. I'm also concerned with the slots being filled, so I plan to just pay for it myself. Around 3k lang naman kasi yun hehe and the training will help me do one of the important tasks assigned to me (which I have never done before, hence the interest).

I'd like to hear any experiences or thoughts on this setup. Thank you and have a great dayyy!

To those who broke (or are planning to break) their bond at work, how did you manage it?

Bond, as in "you have to work in this company for X years or else you'll pay Y amount" type of stuff. I am curious to know if people here broke theirs and what you did for it.

I'm in a slightly complicated situation now because:

  1. I work as COS lab analyst in a SUC;renewed every 6mos.

  2. Previous contract stipulates my "bond" to stay for 2y after training abroad, otherwise I need to pay for the SUC's expenses for the training (yes di dapat ako pwede as COS lang, but supervisor settled things)

  3. Since THAT contract has ended last Jul-Dec2025, will the "bond" no longer apply? Will consult this with a lawyer soon.

  4. The training was all expense paid by the supplier (included in cost of purchasing the equipment) so... my co-analyst explains our SUC didn't really pay for the training (Fund was GAA Insertion from other source, aside from the originally allotted GAA for our SUC.) If this is valid, I'll have nothing to pay in the first place if I exit now.

  5. I REALLY want to exit now or this year talaga so I can gain QA/QC exp asap and eventually apply for work abroad (my current work is so spread out I wear so many hats na talaga at this point... and as COS I have about as much as ZERO benefits and the DELAYED salary is the cherry on top: it's mid-yr bonus season now and as COS, our April 2/2 salary was not even received yet lol.

Sana po mabigyan niyo ako ng advice on this. Original plan was to stick it our for 2 yrs so I dont have to pay anything, but with time passing by, I want to shift to industry now.

Thanks in advance!

White pepper lang pala kailangan sa egg drop soup ko

Dati nakakakain lang ako ng egg drop soup sa events o di kaya kapag bumili kami ng Knorr soup nito tapos lulutin sa bahay.

Through the years and with info from various people I met, kayang-kaya palang gawin ito from scratch 😭
