I'm using Sampath Vishwa, and in the app I see an option called "web card" and right below it I see "PayPal". As what I've heard from a friend, the web card can be used to conduct online transactions without giving my card details. But then that's kinda the same thing PayPal does, hiding your info.

Is there an actual difference between those services? If yes, what are they? And what is more beneficial to use?

edit: I'm new to banking so any knowledge that can be shared about it is greatly appreciated :)
