What happened to Pacino?
I just finished watching the first two for the hundredth time and I am just blown away by Pacino’s acting in these films. The interiority he achieves, the silent rage, the cold ruthlessness communicated only with the eyes, it’s incredible.
The rest of his career to me is a disappointment. I know that’s a hot take. He made more great films. Dog Day Afternoon and Heat, to name a few. But to me he was very one note after this. It was hard to see him as anyone but Al Pacino; he became a caricature.
But in these films, he is Michael Corleone.
