From Abilify to Latuda
After trying different meds for a mild bipolar 2 and going raw for about a year, I decided to try something again.
My new doctor prescribed Abilify, which I started at 5 mg and was supposed to take 10 mg after a week. But the fatigue, headaches, insomnia were unbearable, it got a little better after a week, but after two weeks of not getting enough sleep and not being able to sit through a movie in a cinema, I’ve had enough. I must say there have been incredible benefits to executive functioning and mood in general, but overall not worth it. 6 days off it my sleep is still messed up.
My doctor was disappointed I didn’t follow through with 10mg and just went off it (I really doubt it would get better after 2 weeks on lower dose, but we’ll never know). She prescribed me Latuda now which I’m about to start this evening, but I am worried; from what I’m reading, some of the side effects might be similar.
I know it’s all anecdotal, but has any of you gone similar path, from Abilify and Latuda? If so, what was your experiences? If I’m being honest, I’m hoping for some stories of people who had similarly bad experience with Abilify but no serious side effects with Latuda after switching 😅
