Got definitive yesterday and base for a few friends. Are there any dlc settings i should turn off in general or for first few playthroughs?

People seem torn on sympiosis the most on steam reviews. Just turn off the mega units maybe?

I don’t understand why so many people start with getting mechanical wings

i only see wings as useful for ranged combat and avoiding stuff, but i rarely need to fly to survive a melee guy early on

why is this everyone’s start over book farming, doing the main quest, or general exploration?
