Advice on getting into academia

I’m really interested in becoming an academic in the economics field, and I was now looking at different bachelors programs and I am hesitating between a standard economics degree or an applied mathematics one, and I was wondering which one do you think is more optimal for a career in economics? I heard that it’s good to have mathematics background but on the other side, isn’t it more logical to directly study the thing you want to do after? Thank you!

Would you recommend studying econometrics and operations research?

I'm good at mathematics, and I believe I can handle it, but I was wondering from a practical side of things, is it worth it and valuable, especially in the near future, and what are the different opportunities and benefits that come with this field of study?

Is economics easy?

I have seen a lot of people on the internet hating on economics being an easy major, where everyone parties,… and I wanted to know if that was the case in general?
