How to improve my at home workout routine as a beginner?
so I have started doing some weightlifting with dumbbells at home after stopping during the winter due to ac joint injury after a fall, but i am worried that what I am doing is suboptimal. I picked the fierce five dumbbell routine from the fitness wiki. I have two adjustable dumbbells that can go up to 30kg each. Due to the ac joint injury from the winter one arm/shoulder is weaker, and doesn’t have full range of motion, still some pain. I started with weights around 4-8 kg depending on the exercise, I went with around 75% or 50% of the max I can comfortable lift at the moment to start with. I did read the article about fuckaraounditis and while I know I shouldn’t worry about it too much as a beginner I keep doubting the exercises I am doing. I don’t have a pull-up bar/ or bands as I have nowhere to mount them at home (doorframes are kind of cheap and flimsy). I was wondering if I need to get maybe a barbell, or a bench. Also worried I am not pushing hard enough with the weights, and as far as I understand it’s easier to go a bit heavier with a barbell so I guess I would see better progress. Plus I would be missing some exercises only with dumbbells. Is it worth it to get a barbell at home and a bench? How safe would barbell exercises be at home when done alone? How practical would it be, in terms of the amount of weights. Also what other exercises could I add to the workout?
Also when I look at the dumbbell weight I feel a bit depressed since it is so low, I feel it will take forever to progress to something actually heavy and like I am not doing much with these dumbbells, although I know I am overthinking it it is hard to shake off the doubts. I am currently 91kg at 186cm.
