I have a question about a long downhill drive I’m planning. I’ll be passing through the longest mountain descent in my country, the Pozantı pass here in Turkey. My car is a 2026 1.8 Hybrid. My battery usually hits full capacity within the first 3 or 4 kilometers of a long descent, and I have about 100km of downhill road ahead. I really want to avoid overcharging or putting unnecessary stress on the hybrid battery. I’ve thought about using the "B" (Brake) mode, but I’m worried it might put too much strain on the 3-cylinder engine. I usually rely on Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) on highways, and it seems to manage everything quite well by balancing mechanical braking, regen, and engine braking automatically. For those of you who drive on long descents, what’s your preferred way to handle this? Do you think letting the ACC do the work is the best approach, or is there a better technique to keep the hybrid system healthy and efficient on such a long decline? I’d love to hear your experiences. Thanks!
