Offline back up for iOS passwords

Hey folks.

I use iOS passwords app for my passwords. I have over a hundred saved and sometimes the iCloud sync/updates will have some passwords disappearing. This is really annoying.

As such, I’m looking to store an offline back up. However I’m looking for advice. The passwords app does not let me export the passwords unless there’s another password manager on the device. I do not want to download another password manager.

I can export my passwords through safari as a .csv by going to safari > Export > Passwords but I’m not sure if that’s the safest idea or where it would be best to store it. Should I export as a .csv and save to a usb key that I store in a safe with my yubi keys? Do I do something else?

Any advice would be appreciated

Worth setting up for my parents?

Hey folks, I have recently been reviewing my account credentials and security. I primarily use apple products and have two yubikeys set up for my important accounts.

I’ve learned recently that my aging parents are saving their passwords in insecure methods. I’ve tried to push them towards password managers. My father is in charge of my parents credentials and I’ve gotten him set up with a password manager and I’d like to set up two keys for him as a mfa for his apple and google accounts.

I was thinking of setting up the two and storing the back up for him.

I suppose my question is if anyone has experience setting up security keys for their parents. Did you run into any issues? Was it easy enough for them to use the nfc feature? Were the keys durable enough to be dropped repeatedly/accidentally?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Ghost password/app entry under security suggestions

Hey all, looking for some help. I was reviewing my security settings. I use an iPhone, and have the Gmail app.

The security suggestions listed under Manage Account > Sign In & Security > you have security tips banner, has a tab titled “Your Saved Passwords” and it indicates that I have one saved password or app connection.

I do not use the password manager. Confirmed on the safari browser and the app. There are no passwords saved, no hidden passwords.

I do not have any linked apps.

I have no odd logins, no suspicious activity, I have mfa Authenticator and Passkey.

I am not logged in anywhere else. I only use this email on my phone so it’s not a synced browser on web or anything.

Wondering if this is a glitch or an actual security risk? Could there be anything malicious with access to my account?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. This is a primary email account tied to most of my important accounts and I would like to ensure its security

Where are they coming from

Hey folks, I posted a while ago.

I’m in Canada, in an apartment. Found some nymphs and adults in June. the place fumigated June 16. They sprayed and applied gel. Saw a few stragglers in the traps for the following two weeks and then nothing. The building did not follow up.

This morning I saw an adult scurry by in the bathroom. This apartment is the last apartment in the hall and the only thing beside it is the staircase. We are on one of the lower floors.

I did suspect they were coming from neighbouring units but we had the pest control in today to apply gel and provide new traps. Spoke to them and they said the neighbouring units aren’t being treated but they’ll tell management to keep an eye on them.

We’ve already followed all the cleaning and sealing that we could do. This bathroom is at the end of the apartment at the end of the hall. I don’t know where they are coming from.

Looking for any advice before I go mad.

Edited to add: ha! Management is actually gas lighting me. Apparently the apartment has a roach problem (if the google reviews for the last three months for the place and the photos of the roaches are anything to go by)

Roach sighting one week after fumigation

Hey folks, I’m at my wits end. This subreddit has been a huge help but it feels like an uphill battle.

Two weeks ago I found a roach (mature) in the bathroom. This led to us deep cleaning everything, and we found quite a few in the kitchen.

I’m in Canada so we don’t have access to the pesticides mentioned. However, we had fumigators come in and they did spray and gel.

The fumigation was done on the 16th. The first couple days following it, I saw a few roaches (nymphs and adults) in the traps. I thought we were making good progress.

Yesterday night I turn the bathroom light on and a mature roach rushes to hide under my bathroom sink. I couldn’t get to it in time so I sprayed the bathroom.

Wondering if seeing adult roaches means the fumigation process was unsuccessful?

We live in a multi-unit apartment.
