Suggestions for making pants with a *lightweight* fabric

Suggestions for making pants with a *lightweight* fabric

Hi all! I’ve made these Lane Pants before in a more structured/heavier cotton (think fabric from Michaels) and really love them.

I want to make them again but in a more lightweight, breathable fabric so I bought this crinkle gauze / bubble gauze. (Side note: this was the best option I could find in my budget, so if you have suggestions for affordable linens, I’ll gladly take them!)

I’ve washed the fabric and it is nice but a bit translucent. It’s not completely sheer, but shapes are definitely visible through the fabric.

So what do I do?

I’m considering two options: 1) make the pants as usual and make sure to wear black bike shorts underneath it when I wear them or 2) double the fabric - as in cut two pieces for each pattern piece and layer it when sewing.

Thank you in advance!!
