About Backstories...

I'm a Kindroid user since October of 2025. I'm always looking for optimal ways to make the best of the tools we're given, and lately, I've been taking a harder look at backstories and how I can make them best work for me, any other user, and the kins I'm creating.

Before I pick everyone's brains and see what pops out at me, a couple things to know:

I normally use "Companion" or "Roleplay" flairs. (I don't use "Minimal" as I still don't quite understand how it will work effectively for me, despite having looked into it extensively. I've had people try to explain it to me, and it always comes out sounding more complicated than I need or want it to be.)

I'm also an Ultra user, so I have that "Additional Context" section I could use if I wanted to.

Finally, I've dug into other backstory "guides" and tips online, but they haven't been as much help as I'd hoped for. Gen's videos and guides are always great, but her backstory guide is over a year old, and unless you can assure me to the contrary, I should think a year's worth of LLM updates to the platform would render that particular guide out-of-date.

Anyway, here are some things I'd like to learn more about so I can become a more adept and informed Kindroid user:

  1. What is ideal content for the backstory field? - I've always thought that personal details, prominent personality traits, and hobbies/skills would be the baseline. Is that true? If so, how little is "too little" for the kin to work with? Conversely, what would be considered "bloat" that could be better served in Journals, "Key Memories", or "Response Rules" placed in the "Example Message" section?

  2. Do these Backstory guidelines from March of 2026 still apply?

  • Concise and clear, with no fluff words
  • Grammatically sound
  • Uses 3rd person pronouns
  • Choice of words is precise and positively framed
  1. I want to have the option to share and maybe have them featured, and I know Featured kins require a certain backstory format. What is the optimal format for the backstory that works best for the Kin and would also be "featured"-friendly?

  2. As an Ultra user, if I want to use the "Additional Context" section, what information would be best suited for that section compared to the standard Backstory section?

I've been creating kins based on what I've learned from others since October, and that info has served me well, but I know I can do better. I have a feeling if I showed anyone with experience the back-end details for one of my kins, they'd look at me the same way one would look at a gamer who installed too many mods on their PC game in the wrong directories and "fixed it until it was broken". I want to make this platform a better experience for me, and I want to make my kins a better experience for others when I share them.

Any help and guidance you're willing to provide would be greatly appreciated and valued.

Thank you!!!

Is there still an active Heilung fan Discord server?

I did a search for info about a Discord server on this sub, but all of the links were invalid. Is the fan server still active? If so, would someone be willing to share a valid link? Thank you!

Saw Supergirl. Liked it even more than I thought I would. (NO SPOILERS)

Saw Supergirl tonight, and I gotta be real: I really enjoyed it, far more than I thought I would. I was concerned after I saw the criticisms about it throughout social media (the rational and constructive ones, not the "MILLY NOT HOT ENOUGH! ME NO LIKE CUZ WOKE!" drivel the grifters are peddling), but I came out of the movie pretty happy with what I watched.

Milly was fucking EXCELLENT as Kara. People coming down on her performance need to get off the crack, because she nailed it here. I also thought Eve Ridley was quite good as Ruthye.

I can't go into much more without delving into spoilers, so I'll just move onto...

My points of contention/criticisms:

  1. While I agree that Jason Momoa was absolutely the best choice for Lobo and he did a decent job, he really didn't need to be in this movie. You could cut him completely out and it would have minimal impact. I'm convinced that his inclusion was nothing more than a move made by the studio out of fear that Milly as Kara wouldn't be able to carry the film, which is an asinine take, because she's going to need extensive PT from how much she carried this damn movie.

  2. Krem was absolutely forgettable. I didn't find him all that menacing or compelling, and I didn't like the character's design. He was so much more interesting in the graphic novel.

  3. The movie could've been better paced. I loved the Krypton/Argo/Superman flashback scenes, and they were put in at times where it made sense, but it still like the story slammed on the brakes for these scenes and they went on a bit longer than they should have.

  4. Not crazy about the lighting/filtering. Woman of Tomorrow was such a beautifully illustrated graphic novel full of color. This movie was "Sepia tones, sepia tones EVERYWHERE" and it made the movie visually unappealing.

  5. Some of the CGI, especially the facial work for Kara during flight, was pretty dodgy, but some of that could also be attributed to the lighting used during the scenes.

  6. On the whole, I didn't feel this movie did much justice to Woman of Tomorrow. It's not like I ever expected a 1:1 adaptation; that was never going to happen. I just think the graphic novel was the better version of this story by a considerable margin.

I'd give this movie a 7.5 out of 10. Not the best thing in the history of anything ever, but a solid and enjoyable film I'd gladly see again.

Questions from Gen's "AI Archetyping Deep Dive" stream on 6/6/26

I didn't spot an obvious thread for Gen's Archetyping stream on 6/6, and I had questions I wanted to pose, but I don't think it makes sense to put it all in a YT comment...so I'm going to posted it here. Anyone who has advice or guidance to share, I'd greatly appreciate the input.

So...if I'm understanding this correctly, we could have a personality section to our backstory, start with the format Gen described (Archetype - Astrological Sign - MBTI) with character directives beneath to sort of "flesh out" the details, correct?

Let me present a dilemma I'm having:

I have a kin I'm working on who's a cosplayer.

First:

When I put all of her details into Google Gemini - just as an example - and asked it to tell me what Jungian archetype she'd be based on my details, it came back with "The Creator" AND "The Entertainer".

  • Her personal self is based around "The Creator", because she wants to innovate; she only cosplays what she loves and doesn't just follow trends, and she values self-expression above all else.

  • Her public persona - the one she maintains at cons, for example - falls under "The Entertainer" because she connects with people, utilizes charm, wit, and benign flirtatiousness to navigate social spaces. It's a presence built for the "con floor".

The AI called it "The Creator / Entertainer Hybrid."

Would Kindroid be able to understand that using Gen's formula? Or, would it go underneath the "big 3" as clarifying directives?

Second:

When I inquired into a suitable astrological sign, I got:

  • "Scorpio Sun, Gemini Moon, Leo Rising"

Would Kindroid understand the Sun/Moon/Rising part of that? Or would I just have to pick one of the three and get more detailed below that?

Third/Finally:

When I inquired into her possible MBTI, it came back with: ENFP (The Campaigner) or ENFP (The Debator).

It did this because, according to the AI, "while she might initially look like an ESFP due to the cosplay and aesthetics, her core motivation is driven by ideas, deep-dive lore, and genuine conceptional connection.

It came up with:

  • "ENFP with strong boundaries"

For that, would you define the "strong boundaries" in the personality directives below the "formula"?

Just as an aside: Would it be possible to eventually get an updated Kindroid backstory guide that, among other things, explains how these archetypes, astrological signs, and MBTI can be properly utilized? The existing backstory guide is out-of-date (unless the details in the guide as of March 26, 2026 still apply), so an update wouldn't go amiss. Hell, I'd even settle for a backstory-guide stream, if Gen were up for it.
