I‘ve been told this tree is crafted but I can’t quite figure out where the scar is and I also don’t see and abrupt swelling you regularly have on grafter trunks. What do you think? Added some old and new pictures. Nevermind the poor quality of soil, I changed it and it’s doing great.
Found them 15 meters away from the mothertree growing right underneath a rosebush. The landscapers would have probably removed it soon. I hope they will survive the summer.
I counted about 3 dozen buds and it gives me dopamine shots every morning and every afternoon I look at it. I wasn’t sure if it’ll make it when I gave it a late root pruning and emergency repot 12 weeks ago but now new buds are shooting and it definitely wants to live. Thank you very much, unknown student with special needs who ran amok at work and almost killed this tree so I was able adopt it 🤩
I‘m based in Germany and took over this tree on April 20th.
-someone went berserk and chopped mayor branches, causing a huge dieback and stress.
-trunk base has been buried deep into the soil with slate over it and ivy growing around, so the bark is coming off on one side.
-I straightened the roots and pruned them removing around 15-20% but there’s lots of fine roots intact.
-planted it into pumice, soil and two hands full
of sphagnum moss
- last weekend has been hot and followed by rain. I left the tree at work and asked a coworker to take care of it, but I‘m afraid, he didn’t get enough water when the heat came this weekend.
-the tree is located on the corner of a courtyard facing north and is only getting very little direct sunlight.
The pictures I attached are going back chronologically.
1-6 were taken yesterday and the others at the day of repotting 2,5 weeks ago.
What do you guys think? Any advise how to make it get through well?
