Evergoods MHP3.5 (Standard 420D vs X-Pac) vs Fjällräven Ulvö Large?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a clean, non-tactical true waist/hip pack (worn strictly around the waist/hips, no sling mode) for my daily EDC and toddler-parent setup. I need some real-world advice, especially regarding the Evergoods MHP3.5 Standard vs. X-Pac version.

My Daily Loadout (~3.5L capacity needed):

Small retro handheld console (Retroid Pocket)

Smartphone & Secrid wallet

Power bank + cable

Hard glasses case

Toddler essentials (wet wipes, small snack)

My Priorities are the following:

Comfort & Strap Quality: Must have a soft, non-abrasive strap (seatbelt webbing feel) that doesn't dig in or pill my shirts.

Body Conformity / Low Profile: I dislike the "rigid box" look on my hips. I ruled out stiffer Cordura packs (like the Helikon Bandicoot) because they don't conform to the body and keep their max bulk even when half-empty.

Clean Urban Aesthetic: Minimalist, no MOLLE/tactical vibes.

From all the hip pack, these are the packs that i choose, but i need some "real life usage opinion" from "common people/not-influencers or similar"

Evergoods MHP3.5 (Standard 420D Nylon vs. X-Pac / VX42):

My main dilemma: For those who wear the MHP3.5 on the waist—does the X-Pac version feel noticeably stiffer, boxier, or noisier on the hips compared to the Standard 420D Nylon?

I love the 3D ergonomic patterning and interior layout, but I’m worried the laminated X-Pac material won't drape or flex as well against the body as the standard nylon. Is the X-Pac worth the extra cost for hip carry, or does Standard win on comfort/flexibility?

Fjällräven Ulvö Hip Pack Large (4L):

I really like the bottom compression straps to squish the bag flat when carrying fewer items.

Downside: Lacks the 3D curved body fit and the internal pocket organization of Evergoods.

Evergoods CAS2 (2L):

Love the sleek look and seatbelt strap, but pretty sure 2L is just too small for my load without bursting at the seams.

Does the MHP3.5 X-Pac feel too rigid/boxy for comfortable waist wear compared to the Standard 420D?

Does the MHP3.5 feel overly bulky on the hips for a 3.5L pack, or does the 3D curve do its job?

Are there any other clean ~3.5L–4L true hip packs with ultra-soft straps I should consider?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Help me decide: Swap RP6 12GB (Stick Top) for 8GB (D-Pad Top), sell it completely, or keep current setup?

Hey everyone,

I’ve hit a bit of a handheld paradox and could really use some community advice on streamlining my setup.

Right now, I own a Retroid Pocket 6 (12GB, Stick Top) and an older Retroid Pocket Classic that I’ve had for a few months. I also have a Steam Deck which I use for all my "heavy" or modern PC gaming.

Lately, my gaming habits have shifted heavily toward retro stuff (PS2 and below), and I find myself reaching for the Classic almost every time. Because of that, my RP6 is just sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

The biggest issue is ergonomics: with the Stick Top layout on the RP6, I find playing 2D systems like SNES and GBA incredibly uncomfortable for long sessions. My thumb just cramps up stretching down to that D-pad. On the other hand, the Classic runs lighter games perfectly, and I usually play stuff like Balatro or vampire survival clones on it.

I'm trying to decide between three paths forward and would love to hear your experiences:

Option 1: Sell the 12GB Stick Top and buy an 8GB D-Pad Top model. Since 8GB is plenty for PS2/GC, I don't mind the RAM downgrade, and I'd probably pocket some cash in the trade. But for those who have the D-Pad Top model: How is the playability for stick-heavy games (like PS2)? Does the lower stick position feel too cramped or top-heavy on a device this size?

Option 2: Sell the RP6 completely and don't replace it. Just stick to the Classic for ultra-portable retro stuff and the Steam Deck for everything else. (The only risk here is losing a comfortable middle-ground device for PS2/GC games).

Option 3: Keep the current setup. Stop complaining, leave the RP6 as a dedicated 3D/analog machine, and just use the Classic for 2D.

If anyone has made the switch from Stick Top to D-Pad Top (or vice versa) on the RP6, how did it affect your experience with both 2D and 3D emulation?

Thanks in advance for the help!
