DUMP ALERT-17cm in last 24HR

Mt Buller has received a moderate dump of snow, with 17cm fallen in the last 24 hours.

'Mother Nature has delivered the goods overnight, with 17cm of fresh snow recorded and still snowing. It’s a proper winter day out there, with low visibility, temps well below zero and a brisk morning sitting around -3, feeling closer to -10. Grab the extra layer, rug up and enjoy the cold spell.

With the snow falling and excitement levels high, keep looking out for your mates on the hill today. Coverage is still limited on Bourke Street, so take it easy, stay between the marked areas and keep clear of thin or unmarked spots. Stay warm, stay aware and most importantly, have fun.'

QUICK FACTS:

Average Resort Cover (as per website/app): 17-41cm

Resort Rating (as per website/app): Limited

Trails Open: Bourke St

New Trails and Lifts announced: None

Forecast: Additional potential small flurries over the weekend, but likely to not be enough for additional trails to open. However, long periods of sub-zero temperatures may allow for snowmaking. Fingers crossed!

Community-built Free Snow Forecast Tool - SNOW.fyi

I’m Ryan, an indie developer and skier based in Seattle. During the past Northern Hemisphere winter, I built a clean, ad-free tool called SNOW.fyi to solve a personal frustration: tracking and comparing 14-day weather forecasts across multiple mountains simultaneously, without dealing with paywalls or bloated interfaces.

As the Southern Hemisphere winter season is about to kick off. I wish SNOW.fyi would help folks in Australia, New Zealand planning for ski trips too!

It’s free of ads or subscription. Have a try and let me know your thoughts! - https://SNOW.fyi

Best Non-Fluoro Wax?

I've got atomic s9 and g9 FIS (175 and 183cm), currently I send it to the shops but I was wondering if it would be cheaper to just wax at home. If so, what's an ideal wax? I use Swix H8 right now, but it just doesn't have the same frictionless feel as the professional wax-tuner results.

Opening Weekend

Since it's the opening weekend, I'm thinking about heading up this week, but I'm not sure about the snow cover, seeing as they call Bourke Street 'open' when there's a narrow bit of snow and a couple hundred visitors. If anyone knows how the snow is now, is it the same half patchy bit of Bourke Street or have the snowmakers been working overtime?

SNOW SEASON 2026

Chairs started rolling yesterday across Mt Buller, Perisher, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham, Thredbo etc. Bit gloomy weather but great to see the return of snow, hoping for a great season!
