Capital Crescent Trail

Cyclists want motorists to treat them like pedestrians on roads, but plenty don’t extend that same courtesy to runners (or walkers) on the CCT — riding too fast or blowing by without warning. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Lawbreakers! (Part II)

On Wilson Lane, right outside Bethesda Farmer’s Market. Every Sunday during market hours—without fail—entitled drivers completely disregard the parking rules. God forbid they have to walk 100 feet to a municipal lot with hundreds of free parking spaces. No MoCO police, no traffic enforcement.

Howard Beach — S&S Filth and Disrespect to Neighbors

These are pics (today) of the S&S sidewalk in Howard Beach, Queens (NY). Total filth and disrespect to neighbors. Many complaints have been lodged to management— no response. Happy Father’s Day.

Follow-Up: A number of you made the point that this may be a situation where the landlord of the property has the legal duty to clean the perimeter. I get that. The point I was making, though, is not a legal one: the real (non-legal) question is what does Stop & Shop owe our community, notwithstanding who may have formal legal responsibility for cleaning the sidewalk? I can virtually guarantee that if this location were hit with a snowstorm which prevented customers from spending money, they wouldn’t wait for the landlord to come shovel the sidewalks.

Parking Mayhem/ Police Absent @ Farmers Market

Every Sunday morning, without fail, cars park illegally just outside the Farmers Market. Apart from the flagrant violation of the law, the illegal parking creates a safety hazard to pedestrians, bikers and other cars because it creates visibility and traffic problems.

These are not handicapped drivers or people needing an extra assist, which would understandable. This is all about convenience.

The u/MontgomeryCountyMD police have been told over and over, but still nothing. Pics —with tags visible—from this morning.
