The deadbolt in my front door is baffling me.
I moved into my apartment and of the keys they gave us, only the original one worked. The one they cut didn't. We had them cut like 3 more, still no. None of the keys they cut perfectly matched the master. So I had them cut another one, got it, and filed it to EXACTLY match the other one... And so now the one I filed works, but only when locking the door. Even with the door open, no tension on the lock, it locks smoothly, and then will not unlock. Keep in mind, the original key still works fine, but the new key *only* locks the door?? From what little I know of locks, that makes no sense at all, as long as the pins are aligned it should go both ways?
