Been listening to GTL on Judging vs not Judging Americans and I thought i'd give my two cents. Judging Americans dosen't mean hating them, it dosent mean wishing ill on this.
Look, I just want Canada secure from american invasion and interference and to diversify away from the USA because lets be honest, we should have realized they were irresponsible as a nation after the 2008 crash, Honestly i'm personally not even that mad about the trade war, just wish the de-coupling would have been done with less chaos and more dignity (honestly, do we really want to be tied to that sinking ship or a nation that wants to control us so much?) I know others will disagree with me on that take but that's ok.
That said some thoughts
a) Trump and cronies A tier (for obvious reasons)
b) MAGA voters ie nearly half the USA (for putting the A tier in power after all that has happened)
c) the Rest of the USA (for allowing it to happen and if we're being honest, for being just as aggressive and toxic...i've heard things come out of their mouths too that have made me sick)
This dosent mean hating the USA. Growing up we had this idea "what you deserve dosent mean what you should get" look, Canada has garbage in its past, as does Europe, the Middle east etc etc etc with crimes so horrific that by rights we pretty much deserve far worse than teh world we have now. the USA is screwed up and as a society needs to be held accountable, dosent mean we should hate any americans, i'll say something controversial, Yeah, i even feel bad for Trump. he he's....well Trump, but the man is running himslef and his nation and the world into the ground...that is to be pitied. Now, it in now way means that we should let up on boycotts and pressure etc etc etc, indeed i dont think we do anywhere near enough, I'm just saying that I personally cheer a pivot to Europe and largely am indifferent to the USA and wish them well as well which leads me to my 3rd reason.
CONSTANTLY HATING THE USA LONG TERM KEEPS US ATTACHED TO THEM. Look, i foavour full severence, i dont wish poverty and suffering on anyone either side of the border but the great divorce needs to happen. Honestly provided we find other markets for our goods and can build a decent life and security without the usa I honestly am at most indifferent to what happens south of the border. I hope they move on.
Look as a country we are currently 'dating' the EU and Commonwealth and I think we need to decide is this really a full pivot or are we just gonna spend it complaining constantly about our ex.
Don't get me wrong, judging and criticizing the USA NEEDS to happen espeically at this stage and we should never trust Americans as a people again...i personally think that as a subset of the human race they are naturally dishonest and want more and more though they can be real charmers...and yes...there are some genuinely good people down there.
My point is, I don't hate Americans, you can't blame Americans for being Americans....i mean....this is who they are and if you know their history its who they have always been and always will be, wish them will, keep your distance, take precautions and emotionally move on.
In Short, it's time to be emtionally done with the Americans, time to move on to Europe and the Commonwealth, let the USA be the USA and protect ourselves and get visa free travel to Europe going

Not all Canadians have 100% support for pro-Canada boycotts etc, sadly i am part of a community that is tied with the USA and honestly, probably is sympathetic to those south of the border. I'll say that i just can up and leave not that situation but i will say this, your videos make me feel less pulled apart.
Your videos were the inspiration to make my petition about labels in Canada and to start emailing my local MLAs and MPs about other issues that have been on my mind, what you do gives me and many of us the courage to take action.
Having been raised in an Evangelical Christian household (which I assume you wern't) we have a saying that if you are down and feel tempted to give up a good work that thats the devil talking trying to destroy something good you are doing...if you ever feel tempted to stop making your videos...yeah, i'll agree with that saying from my upbringing.
Your work is helping educate both Americans and Canadians about who Canada is as a nation and making us as a nation step up on a grassroots level, if it wasnt you or others like you it wouldnt be possible.

Ok so for those of you who may not have been following. I have been working on a petition for the government of Canada to accurately label our products to show where they were made based upon the Australian model. I currently have an MP (Kody Blois) who has agreed to sponsor the petition and I have four co-signers read to go. One of the people I was working with seems to have just dropped off the face of reddit so as a result I am still looking for ONE more co-signer and then i have everything I need to go.

ok, about to log off reddit and take a 48 hour break from the insanity going on the USA, current events do warrant attention but I do think however mad we are at the USA it is worth remembering that they are human beings with tragedies too. That said before my break i do think its necessary to point out the words of a song about September 11th I heard "we will never forget" Yet, the Americans have actively been cancelling monuments to those Danish Troops who died in Afghanistan and I know plenty of Americans who have never even heard of opperation Yellow Ribbon and think the USA Stood alone.
And of all the posts i'm gonna make criticizing the USA calling out this forgetfulness is probably the most pro-USA statement I'll ever make in my life. Yes most of the Victims were American, but there wern't just Canadian and non-American victims in the planes and towers but look at Gander, the Service in Afghanistan from so many other countries that came to the USA's defence, to this day they remain the ONLY NATO country to invoke article 5.
And honestly, to any Americans watching if you actually want to "Make America Great Again" the best thing you can do is undermine the American lone Cowboy myth, the USA has had so many allies who came to its defence, and honestly, inspite of everything we should have helped those people on September 11th, we'd be less of a nation if we didnt, even if the USA ends up becoming a full blown enemy.

I am trying to make a petition to the Canadian Parliment to pass a law that both produce and retail items must clearly label the country of origin in markets/stores based off of the Australian model.
However, we need some co-signers, we currently have roughly 3 people who have agreed but we need 5.
If anyone has any idea on who could sponsor the bill in parliment i'd also be interested in hearing ideas on that score and plan on reaching out to my MP before the petition goes live.

Not the usual boycott topic but it is relevant. With all the stuff we as Canadians are having to deal with with the USA and all the drama, it's easy to forget that we do have allies and friends who are genuinely cheering us on in Europe, especially the Nordic Countries. As you may have heard the King of Norway passed away and as someone who as a kid used to watch American state funerals and services etc, part of us diversifying from the USA means spending our emotional and mental energy on people who genuinely want us to do well and cheer us on rather than wasting it all on a nation whose good citizens generally have benign indifference.
As Canadians let's not make the same mistake by staying in staying in a North American bubble and forgetting those who are genuinely wishing us well.
The best way we can dump American exceptionalism is for us to move on and show emotional support to those who have genuinely been trying to be good to us, and we have an opportunity to do that on September 9th with the funeral of Harald King of Norway

So, apparently Nova Scotia wants to foot 21 million to protect a Ferry to the USA that only brings in 20 million into Nova Scotia as far as dollars spent. Happily its mostly Americans making the crossing.
if you don't want to cut the ferry fine....but Nova Scotia is currently paying ALL of it and the Ferry is rented from the US coast guard!
I mean, couldn't Maine at least go 1/2 or 1/3rd to make it at least profitable?

A few issues
No Kings is distinctly American and is about adhering to the Constitution of the USA...great but...we're Canadian
Supporting it as Canadians could just be another way of letting American discource dominate our politics and we need our own voice (for example, we have a King...Charles III and he came to Canada to show his support at the request of PM Carney)
It support the myth that all that needs to happen is a few more Democrats to win office or just a few structural changes
a) Biden proved that just getting a Demoractic Presidant in won't help
b) it presumes that the solution to our concerns as Canadians is again...within the USA.
Again if you are in or visiting the USA for whatever reason it should absolutely have sympathy but is even thios also just an import of American discource onto Canada....glad they're opposing trump, but it goes deeper than that.

I'm an ex Trump Supporting Canadian and I'd like to tell you about my experineces in this world.
Before i go further i want to make it clear that January 6th was the massive steel beam that broke the camel's back and all through his first term i noticed Trump becoming increasinlgy insane, so i am not now nor have I ever been a 51ster. But some of my experiences from inside this world
American Nationalists hate and dismiss everyone who isnt an American constitutionalist....yes even if you are a Canadian MAGA supporter they will mock you and treat you like dirt.
If anyone is conservative watching this the MAGA movement ABSOLUTELY abuses Christianity and values based movements. don't like prolife? dont worry neither does Trump. Trump and his followers do not care at all about any values beyond Greed.
Everything above is just obvious by now, though i could have told you much of this in 2018, but tjis will be shocking to some...
Look, heard many many many Americans talk about how they hate international law, support annexation etc. when i got involved consevritives were still reacting against Bush Era interventionism and supported pulling back....this has changed. in my view the USA is fundementally incapable of change, even if a Democrat wins in 2028 (which i predict will be the case) it will only be a blip, and afterwards you will get someone even more charismatic, more entitled and more violent. Trump threatens to annex Canada with tariffs, I think that a future US presidant will try to use it with military force and w=he will have a compliant military to do it with and wont care how it affects the economy.
I fully support the idea that Canada needs its own (strong) nuclear deterant as i think based on history Republicans will annex, Democrats will apologize and complain that they can do nothing about it.
I also am not entirely sure that the USA would not attempt a full on genocide of Canadians both culturally and by forced expulsions etc to change demographics in their favour.
