hey blind and low vision community. I am posting to ask if there are any blind/low vision that work as an administrative assistant. I am also curious to know if there are any employers that have employees with visual impairmenta if so what advice would you give me.

I am low vision and starting a new job as an administrative assistant for an electrical contractors. Some of my responsibilities will be data entry such as invoices and credit card information, employe onboarding, ordering office supplies and some future duties will be payroll

yes the employers are aware I am low vision and said as long as I care about my job they see no problem with continuing the hiring process and will provide accommodations if needed.

I used to work as a medical admin assistant just basic front desk stuff. I am used to healthcare duties not buisness duties. I am excited because I get to learn new skills and it will be beneficial to me in the future if I decide to go back into the healthcare admin path. I AM SCARED SHITLESS of starting this new job and failing or not being good enough. I have a degree in medical billing and coding and this will be a new experience for me. I always dreamed of a job like this and fear keeps taking over. if you are low vision and have a similar job please let me know any advise of how you managed the job and responsibilities.

I am writing this to just vent and share my first healthcare job. To start i worked in a pyschiatric clinic which was telemed mainly so in the office it would just be the front desk. This is in villa rica GA, the owner Dr w is in flordia opening a new facility and providers would also work from home. So in office was just me the office manager two other front desk and Jennifer the office coordinator and Amy the office assistant and admin she worked from home. i will use their real names because if they ever find this post i hope they realize what type of people they are.

I will start by giving some context of what type of person is Jennifer. She started as the team lead but then got premoted. She got a big head when the office manager left due to Dr w which i will mention in a minute. Jennifer started doing some of the office manager duties and even took it upon herseld to move into the manager office. She stopped helping with phone calls and patients. jennifer would text e while on lunch to have do paperwork for a patient because she either did not want to do it or forgot. Jennifer and Amy would have hour long phone calls complaining and sharing information such as what we did wrong how tired they were. They would cover up each other mistakes so Dr w would not find out.

Now who is Dr w he is the owner and a narcissist. Dr w would threaten us everyday to fire us, cut payroll and call us demeaning names such as stupid, fools, worthless, useless, idiots etc. He would also curse at us. He would also tells us he is god and we need to prioritize him. This is why the office manager quiet.

It started when e got fired. She got fired due to her leaving early with out an approval although she sent an email informing she would leave early to attend a wedding. Amy had accidently sent a teams message to me saying that the new manager was supposed to type a termination letter. I message her back saying okay i will leave now. Amy replied saying it was not meant for me, an hour later e got fired. Now it was me jennifer and N. N was sent to the other location which left me alone with jennifer.

When e got fired i felt like i was next because e and i were close. jennifer got kicked out the manager office when Barba the new maanager for floridia started working. N and i would call each other extension to see how the other is doing. I told her i feel unsafe and like i have a target on my back. N said she felt like they relocated her to single me out, N is the type to speak her mind and defend herself so Amy and Jennifer could never get to her. Well two weeks later i got fired. The termination letter included that i am fired for poor work performance. I want to mention since i am bilingal i helped floridia patients as well while still doing my GA duties and extra work when e got fired. Amy and Jennifer apparently were too good to handle extra work load so did not help with the extra workload when e left. Since jennifer was now alone Barba the new manager sent N back. N was right they sent her away to single me out.

I am happy to hear that the facility is having less new patients. The senior provider went part time due to payroll changing and did not like that. Dr warner is being evicted and best part Amy got fired.

Amy got fired for refusing to go back into the office which was required by the new manager. Jennifer is paranoid and stressed due to having to handle a lot of work now that there is only her and N being left.

This was my first healthcare job from graduating with my associates in medical billing and coding. I loved my job now im unemployed and looking for a job again. I should mention i am visually impaired so its a bit harder for me to find a job. well folks thats my first healthcare job experience.
