Acuff and his Lob Targets

It seems to me that Acuff has plenty of lob targets:

Mogbo: Can catch a lob.

Cardwell: Can catch a lob.

Raynaud: Can catch a lob.

Clifford: Can catch a lob.

Plowden: Can catch a lob.

Precious: Can catch a lob.

Monk: Can catch a lob.

Keegan: Can catch a lob.

Hunter: Can catch a lob.

Lavine: Can catch a lob.

Now obviously half the battle is catching a lob and the other half is finishing it, and these guys aren't all equal on both ends there. But all I'm saying is that even in the likely scenario where Sabonis is the starting center, Acuff's gonna have other guys he can throw a lob to. Who needs Jalen Duren when you've got Precious Achiuwa?

Jalen Duren will need to make around $42.4 million a year to sign with us

I was wondering about this myself and that's roughly the math. This assumes a Duren for Sabonis swap and it's important it assumes that because of the "base year compensation" rule. Basically for salary matching purposes, Duren's contract will count as half of what its 1st year is actually worth. Since the Pistons salary dumped Isaiah Stewart, that trade can be combined with this potential sign & trade which pushes it over the trade machine.

This is within the 4-year, $177 million max that other teams can give him but it's very close to that max. Pretty nasty contract as a Duren hater but Scott Perry hasn't been batting 100 for me so what do I know. Also blah blah blah we are being used for leverage blah blah blah.

Feel free to correct my cap sheet math though, I'm not an expert.

According to Vecenie: Alex Karaban Was Our Guy

Was just skimming reactions to the Karaban pick and on his Game Theory show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChdKoFwQlNM&t=12910s) Vecenie mentioned that we were connected to Karaban "throughout the process" and that we were a team that just really wanted him. So it does sound like there was a chance of Karaban getting stolen from us and we wanted to lock him in at a cost of a single 2nd round pick.

As for whether or not he'll pan out? We'll see. Perry mentioned in the press conference a lot of character and abstract reasons for drafting him, e.g. "He's a winner." I think he could be a 3&D guy for us, a Sasha Vezenkov regen but with better defense, surprisingly. He actually has a higher block rate than Boozer does while being a similar size. So that's not bad?

Acuff > Wagler > Brown > Flemings - The Unofficial Kings' Fan Consensus?

So based on 2 polls taken a month apart recently, you guys seem to be head over heels with Acuff. Wagler is the consensus #2 after him, followed by Brown, then Flemings. Then there's a steep drop off with the other options.

Do you guys agree with that general ranking? I know some of you guys only want Acuff but most of us seem to be fine with any of those 4 guards. This is, of course, assuming that Perry/Vivek doesn't do a gallon of PCP and make us all suffer at around 5 PM PST.

What Should the Kings Do in 7 Days?

Vote: https://www.rcv123.org/ballot/VV82rj3V4wWmW4m4JfxMHfpP

The draft is just 7 days away now. Our position has a lot of options but it's clear to me that there's no true consensus of who we should pick. That's what this ranked choice ballot will help us with. The beauty of a ranked choice vote is that it's basically a big board and if we miss out on the #1 guy in terms of the vote totals, then we should be happy about getting the #2 guy, right? Also would be interesting to compare what you guys are thinking with what the subreddit was thinking a month ago when I made a similar RCV ballot.

P.S. Click on "Show tie breaker calculations" to see what the consensus big board looks like. E.g. right now, this subreddit is going Acuff > Wagler > Mikel > Flemings.

Who Should The Kings Draft At 7? A Ranked Choice Vote

You guys know that you're supposed to vote for the June primaries right? Did you see that massive list of candidates for governor? Wouldn't it be nice if you could vote for multiple options so you don't throw away your vote? Well that's what ranked choice voting could help with.

And for us in particular, it could help Kings fans form a consensus about who's the best option at #7 (or really, who's the least hated option). In this ballot is 8 candidates for the 7th pick, boiled down to the most likely options as well as a few wild cards I know some of you guys like.

Here's the ballot: https://www.rcv123.org/ballot/rgXpcwJvw77Rmj2vwMM22hpR
