Testing out the GreenMax double line tunnel portal. Had to use a 1/4” foam backer to cover the larger opening with the XPS foam. Next onto priming and attaching them. The sculpt a mold took a bit to dry but it finally dried enough to test. The tunnel only covers a quarter radius so I didn’t build in an access portal yet but was curious for a shorter tunnel if access portals are a must. Also do you guys ballast track inside tunnels or ballast up to the portals?

Thought I’d share some early progress with anyone else considering jumping in. Made the bench work with 1x4’s and got a couple of pieces of 4x8’ xps pink foam board. Built the layout unglued to mark stuff off and now I’m to gluing pieces in and sculpting a bit.

Got a couple of models and some track during my vacation to Japan and it’s for sure inspired me given the meditative vibe of watching them run and building the station. I’d love to make a more permanent layout for these and this loop is about 7’x3’ which feels bigger than I expected for n scale but also appropriate for the train lengths. Total noob here other than set up and tear down but I have some basic electrical knowledge and some very basic wood working skills. Any reccos on where to start?

Got some interesting size 14 micro leech or scud style patterns during my time in Kyoto. I’ve never seen that square embossed holo flash before. Anyone know what material that flash is? I like how it almost has a jewel like appearance.
