Orange Line Interstate Photos

METRO Orange Line is a BRT route spanning 17 miles from Minneapolis to Burnsville. Boasting 2,000 rides per weekday and a half hour commute, the Orange Line connects Metro Transit, MVTA, and Southwest Transit service areas. It relies heavily on I-35W and makes use of transit only lanes, center of highway stations, and interstate express lanes to achieve its fifteen minute frequency. (Sourced from Wikipedia)

We have a Discord!

Do you like public transit? Do you like talking about public transit? Do you like public transit in the Twin Cities?

Well today's your lucky day! We have a Discord for that now. Many of the rules we have on Reddit apply there as well.

NexTrip and metrotransit.org outage currently ongoing

EDIT: THIS ISSUE IS CURRENTLY RESOLVED!!!

Paraphrased from Metro Transit on Instagram and Facebook:

The Metro Transit and Metropolitan Council websites are experiencing an unexpected outage and are unavailable.

Please use Google, the Transit app, and Metro Transit's Contact Center (612 373 3333 from 6:30am to 8pm) for transit times and trip planning.

Attempts to use either website will pull up nothing. NexTrip signs along BRT and LRT stations are not providing trip information. This has been ongoing for at least the last several hours.

The schedules and maps posted at select stations and stops and the drivers themselves are also a resource you can use for navigation assistance.

East Creek Station

Took the 698U to see East Creek Station because I wanted to. Very well kept, people cleaning the station and passengers milling about. No in-person service at the service booth. There was extra activity because of the Yacht Club event going on.

In terms of bus service, it's exclusively commuter express routes. If you want to leave the station after the morning set of buses, you either can take the one 698 or 600 going East at 3pm-ish, or have to use the SW Prime service to leapfrog to SouthWest Station to catch the 686L/X, and then ride that to MOA to connect to the greater transit system.

How should we powerscale TRIP agents? I think they're wall level.

- They can travel up to 60mph using a bus, giving them superhuman speed

- TRIP agents have been seen working double shifts, giving them peak human stamina

- Using their hive mind with Skip Traffic, they have a genius level of intelligence, particularly on transit matters

- With the Fare Enforcement technique, agents can force an adult human off the bus. Moving approximately 200lb forward ten feet in a single strike should classify them as street fighter level. Advanced users of this method can force multiple people at the same time.

- TRIP agents have normal human durability and their equipment does not improve that. This places them as an average human in this regard.

Combining their speed and strength feats, I would argue that TRIP agents are a 9-B, or Wall Level.

Long-Term Blue Line Rail Closure with Green Line Disruptions Currently in Effect

The entire Blue Line is running replacement bus service from Target Field to Mall of America Stations. Blue Line trains will be unavailable from June 29th to August 19th.

Expect delays with replacement buses for the Blue Line, confirmed via Metro Transit and anecdotal evidence. Plan to leave earlier to make up for lost time. D Line is a great alternative if you are traveling to the Mall of America from downtown Minneapolis.

The Green Line will experience partial closures from Target Field to West Bank Stations during parts of the work. Replacement bus service will be available. These times are:

- July 1st to July 26th

- August 16th to August 19th

Full details are available at Metro Transit's website at the above link.

The closures are related to the Tracks and Signals Project, which is performing necessary maintenance and upgrades to our LRT system.

Mound Transit Center

Built in 2007, Mound Transit Center is a terminal destination for Route 645. The 645 departs for Minneapolis once an hour, and the 645E is the only route designation that serves Mound TC on a return trip, also once an hour. Other notable stops for the 645 include the Wayzata Park and Ride, Co Rd 73 Park and Ride, Louisiana Ave Transit Center, and downtown Minneapolis. Depending on timing, the route takes about 75 minutes to ride from start to finish.

You can buy/bid on old Metro Transit buses FYI

I'm not saying we should, but... Hypothetically...

Quarterly Service Changes Begin on Saturday, June 13

"On June 13, Metro Transit will make changes to transit service throughout the metro. As always, these quarterly service changes are being made to ensure we’re providing reliable service that meets your needs.

The improvements are part of an ongoing effort to expand access and adapt service based on changes in travel patterns. The improvements are outlined in the agency’s Network Now framework, informed by rider and community feedback.

Some highlights this quarter include:

- Route restructuring and frequency improvements north of Northtown Mall in Anoka, Blaine, and Coon Rapids on routes 25, 802 (new local route), 805, 827, and 850.

- Reliability improvements for the METRO B and E Lines.

- Route 14 will begin stop consolidation in anticipation of upcoming Better Bus Route implementation happening in Aug."

The above quote is from Metro Transit's website. The full change list is in the embedded link.

We are limiting Transdev Posts.

It was interesting the first couple times but the sub has been flooded by it and it's kinda stale now. We get it, Transdev is bad.

Posts specifically about Transdev are limited to Tuesdays now. If need be I'll put a cap on the number of posts.

You can still talk about routes operated by Transdev any other day, but Transdev can't be the single focus of the post.

This subreddit is dedicated to Metro Transit first and foremost. Transdev is a contractor for them, and it is worth having genuine discussion about it. Spamming Transdev hate doesn't encourage that.

The rules will be updated to reflect this shortly.
