Just a silly question from someone who has been doing this for just a few months. When a temporary stop closes after a detour/construction finishes do they usually post a notice on the temporary stops ahead of time? The construction near me thst caused a detour should be finishing soon(tm) and Im curious if I'll know in advance or not.
Just so I know when to start looking for the 'new' stop i have to go for work is all <3
MTC's marketing campaign from the late 1970s, The OughtaMobile. You gotta admit, "A service of the Metropolitan Council" just doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I run spskyway.com (the skyway map with directions, hours, what's in each building, etc). This week I added a map style editor. There's a palette button on the map that lets you change the lighting (dawn/day/dusk/night), the base style, and the colors of pretty much everything - skyway lines, bridges, buildings, even the little entrance dots. It updates live while you mess with it.
So we're doing a contest. If you make a theme you like, hit "submit to contest." Submissions run through Aug 3, then finalists go to a vote in the app for two weeks. Whatever wins becomes the actual default look of the map for everyone, and the legend will permanently say "Default theme by [your name]".
That's the whole prize btw, there's no money in it. Just your design on the map every downtown worker uses to find lunch.
You don't need an account to play with it, only to save or submit (email or google both work).
Im so sick of it. Im so sick of all of the stereotypes about this bus being completely unabashedly true. Im sick of every bus ride bring a new experience in perseverance, or Alternatively a new low of the human condition. Im also tired of pretending its normal, and having to accept the most insane and dangerous behaviors from my fellow man dor doing nothing more then trying to get home from work.
I dont have an option I have to take this bus. I come from a part of the country where public trasnit is non existent, so having a bus at all is a gem, but my god, the purgatory this is this bus line some days, the fatigue, and exhaustion.
Sucks bad man.
Since the blue line is currently undergoing a 7-week-long closure getting to and from MSP airport airport is going to be a little bit more confusing. I will list some alternative ways to get to your destination.
This will hopefully help some of you out if you want to get to the airport fast.
Route 54/345: both of these routes go from Terminal 1 all the way down to Mall of America and shares all stops (besides Terminal 2) with the blue line replacement bus and will be a faster way. (Route 54 goes to downtown St Paul/ Maplewood Mall, route 345 goes to Woodbury via West St Paul. [Route 345 is hourly])
MVTA 495/4FUN: this route will take you directly to Mall of America as the next stop from Terminal 1, it also goes all the way to Shakopee via Eagan, Savage, and Burnsville. (This route is hourly)
MVTA 436: This route will take you directly to 46th Street Station on the Blue/A lines from Terminal 1, this also goes all the way to Eagan transit station via Viking Lakes. (This route is hourly, half hourly during the evening Rush)
SWT 686: This route will take you from both airport terminals all the way to Mall of America and Eden Prairie. This route has two variants, if you want to get further into Bloomington along American boulevard you can take Route 686L (Local Variant), or if you want to get to Eden Prairie after the mall you will have route 686X (Express variant).
All of the routes besides the 686X are $2 (same cost as the blue line).
Route 686X costs $2.50 during off peak times and $3.25 during rush hours (Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.)
Hopefully this helps you in your journey to get to or from MSP Airport.
The entire Blue Line is running replacement bus service from Target Field to Mall of America Stations. Blue Line trains will be unavailable from June 29th to August 19th.
Expect delays with replacement buses for the Blue Line, confirmed via Metro Transit and anecdotal evidence. Plan to leave earlier to make up for lost time. D Line is a great alternative if you are traveling to the Mall of America from downtown Minneapolis.
The Green Line will experience partial closures from Target Field to West Bank Stations during parts of the work. Replacement bus service will be available. These times are:
- July 1st to July 26th
- August 16th to August 19th
Full details are available at Metro Transit's website at the above link.
The closures are related to the Tracks and Signals Project, which is performing necessary maintenance and upgrades to our LRT system.
Just a helpful reminder! The Metro Blue Line Replacement Bus service is now in full effect for the entire route until August 20 (pretty last-minute summer). Hopefully, most of y'all will have an easier time with this service change till futher notice. Good Luck and stay cool!
This sign is likely from the 80s, Metro Transit has not run any routes within the current MVTA territory since the 80s.
Edit: this sign is actually a relic from the 2000s that is still up.
I saw a post similliar to this and wanted to share this
📍Kansas
This picture isn’t mine and I wasn’t able to source it but The Type 1 Bombardiers were undergoing rust repairs in Louisiana so the Trains had to be transported by Truck
With all of the access to nature next to or near these lines, why not have signage for them and directions? I use the Orange Line for instant access to the Nine Mile Creek Trail at Knox Ave. It takes as long to get there by BRT as it does for me to bike to the Chain of Lakes and gives me a nice change of scenery. 98th St Station puts me close to the River Bottoms: I just wish you could hop on a path directly to the riverfront vs having to either bike on a high speed stroad or sidewalk until the bike lanes appear at 102nd, it's so ridiculous to have a major gap that's only 4 blocks long. 66th St Station takes you just a few blocks away from Wood Lake and its boardwalk. And if I'm really lazy or off to late start, the Orange Line transports me to the Minnehaha Creek Trail off of 46th St Station. The station at American Blvd *should* connect you to the large Highland Lake Park and surrounding lakes, but you have to make your way on either sidewalk or stroad again to 84th for a couple of unprotected curb bike lanes which suddenly dead ends before the intersection at France leaving you like 8 blocks to reach Normandale Lake. Aside from suburban bike infra blunders, it does a good job of giving easy (easier) access to our regional natural highlights, with the Gold Line also bringing you to Battle Creek and pretty close to Elm Lake which you can access from the station via shared paths the entire way. I know if it wasn't for access to our parks, I would not be using the Orange Line nearly as often as for just going to far flung strip malls.
I saw this bus in Ogallala, Nebraska. It was parked in a Wendy's parking lot near Interstate 80. What is it doing so far from home?
Hey everyone!

I'm staying in Minneapolis for the summer and have been enjoying Metro Transit's service and community engagement a lot so far.

I managed to get my hands on the paper models and the sick A line poster, so I was wondering if there was anywhere else I could find some nice items to take back home with me.

+ Saw someone wearing a really cool t-shirt with a Go-To Card on it a few days ago, and I have no idea where they might've gotten that!
Would love to have one of the Ride With Pride Go-To Cards they are handing out (in limited quantities!!) at Pride this weekend, but may not be able to make it. PM me if you have an extra / would be interested in selling to me!
