Bus lane crackdown?

Was on the 17 this morning heading downtown and notice a lot more police out for a morning commute. As we turned onto Hennepin I saw three different cars pulled over by metro transit cops. I assumed it was a crackdown on driving in the bus lanes but not sure what else it could be.

Weekday activities during the day

I am planning to get together with my friend who I haven’t seen in a while, but because she’s a doctor she works weird hours and has random days off.

We are planning on hanging out Tuesday during the day but I’m kind of stumped what we should do.

Thoughts?

USA/ITA DC application process

Ive recently found out more information about my Italian born bio-father. I don’t really know him or his side of the family so I can’t go to him for any information.

I know his first and last name and place of birth (I think) and I think I can find his birthdate.

In years past I haven’t been able to find much of anything about him on the internet. I recently did a genetics test and apart of that was an ancestry test. 4% came back as Sardinian so I tried looking up his place of birth there and I found it. Never considered looking at the islands. So now I believe it’s more of a legit possibility I could have a legitimate case for dual citizenship.

If you have experience applying or have knowledge of what I would need to do or qualify for citizenship, please let me know.

Thank you

Where should I start with researching my Italian father’s family history?

I was born and live in the united states. From what I’ve been told, my biological father was born in Italy. He hasn’t been apart of my life and I haven’t seen him in 34 years, so I can’t ask him.

I was never sure if that was the truth because from what I knew of him, he wasn’t exactly a good guy so lying about where you were from in the 80s when you couldn’t fact check anyone didn’t seem like a stretch.

I have a document somewhere from when I was born where he signed it and he listed where he was from or born. He wrote San Vito Java, Italy. For years I could never find anything about that town. I figured it was a village or something that got incorporated with a larger city.

I recently took a genetics test that also provided Ancestry results. To no surprise, I’m 71% European and notably 10.2% Southeastern Europe and 4.4% Sardinian.

When looking for my father’s birth place, I never considered the islands. I searched San Vito Sardinia Italy and there it was. It’s on the south east side of the island about an hour from Cagliari.

This feels like a thread I should pull on. I’m looking for help on how I can learn more about my family history.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a hiring freeze?

I applied for a communication specialist role a while back. I got the email saying I met the qualifications and they were forwarding on my application to the hiring manager. That was back in May 19th. Heard nothing since. I thought they usually notified you when you were no longer moving forward but I could be wrong. Tried logging into the hiring site but I don’t know my log in and the reset password options doesn’t send me anything.

Shout out to the #2 driver

Was just sitting at at 24th & Lyndale waiting for the 17 when a 2 bus pulls up (temporary stop). I waived him off to let him know we weren’t getting on and he opens the door and yells out “Happy Friday!” I a little surprised because I’ve never had a driver do anything like that but I returned the sentiment. Good to see there’s some out there still who aren’t bitter and jaded because lord knows I would be.

Make it make sense

Stop 3540 is only visible half of the year AND the 38 was a no call/no show for 8:30am this morning.

Luckily Lime works in SLP now so I had to take one to my 9am doctor’s appointment. Almost got hit in a crosswalk when I had the green and the walk signal

17 bus stops on W 36th St

The 17 goes down W 36th Street in St. Louis Park at odd times of the day. It runs twice in the mornings about an hour apart going west at 5:45 & 6:45am and then in the evening it runs west and picks up at 2pm and 3pm. It’s frustrating because I live close to 36th and work downtown but the bus is not running in the direction I’m going and instead have to take 2 or 3 buses to get downtown.

I don’t have high hopes that the schedule will change but there are a lot of apartments along 36th so if it was offered I bet more people would use it. I’m just baffled why it’s even worth their while to run such limited stops. Feels like this was done for a specific group but I can’t figure it out. Long story short, I’d love to get downtown on one trip. It’s a 20 minute walk to get to the only bus that would take me all the way.
