amicizie all’estero

Suicidal because of unemployment

Hi, I’m 28 years old and have been living in Switzerland for two and a half years (inland Switzerland). I’m from Italy and have a B permit.

Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, the bank where I worked as a translator didn’t renew my contract. I’ve been looking for a job for six months,?actively for four, and I’m starting to worry because I can’t find anything.

I studied language mediation and then translation. Right now, I’m “working” at a research center in the communications group through the BNF. I also have experience in public administration (I worked for the Swiss government before joining the bank) and in event management. I speak German, French, and English fluently, I can write, and I also have basic knowledge of programming and linguistic data analysis.

I’ve even tried at restaurant, bars, gym and hotel receptions, but still nothing.

I thought about trying to move away, but it seems the humanities are in crisis everywhere. If I could, I’d do another master’s degree, but I don’t have the money. I still have 8 months to find a job before I get kicked out.

I suffer from depression and don’t see a way out of this situation. I’m writing here because I don’t know who else to talk to about this anymore. Yesterday night I had suicidal thoughts and a friend of mine called the police. I had no idea they could come even for such crises.

Thank you for reading this far.

ho paura e non so cosa fare

grazie :)

Leaving Switzerland for the Netherlands/Danemark

Hello, I’m 28 years old and have been living in Switzerland for two and a half years (I’m from Italy).

Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, the bank where I worked as a translator didn’t renew my contract. I’ve been looking for work for six months – actively for four – and I’m starting to worry because I can’t find anything.

I speak German, French and English fluently, I can write, and I also have basic knowledge of programming and linguistic data analysis.

I’m considering starting to look for work in the Netherlands and Denmark.

For those of you living there, do you have any advice on which platforms to use to browse job adverts?

Thanks :)

grazie :)

how to survive summer here when feeling lonely and having not so good mental health

F28. it’s my second summer in Zurich, and I still struggle a lot with loneliness.

I go to the gym, I use Bumble BFF…I’ve made a few friends here and there but they’re either dealing with their own stuff lately or they’re not initiating unless I do, and these past few months I’ve always been the one initiating and I start to feel tired.
unemployment also doesn’t help.
I see group of friends around or on Instagram and I feel…wrong.

I have lots of interest. I love reading, music, movies, art. I do activism and I love listening.

I didn’t want to use Reddit since I’ve had some bad experiences with dms, but I don’t want to speak to AI either, so…
