Hey all,

I was t-boned Sunday night (09/08/26). My car sustained heavy damage to a door, rear bumper, and the frame is fucked up, but he was driving a lifted truck which seemed to have almost zero damage. The guy (J), older, probably around 60, stopped for me, but I was kind of dazed (and young and stupid) and only got his phone number, name, and plate before he left.

I texted him the next day to ask about insurance info, but he wasn't responding to my texts or calls so I made an incident report with my local PD on Tuesday, and it turns out he gave me a fake name & number. Since I had the plate, the PD was able to find the actual owner of the truck (B), who had let J borrow the truck. B gave the police J's contact info, and the police gave J's contact info to me. I texted J about the damages on Wednesday and asked him if he'd like to settle without insurance or let B's insurance take care of the damages. He responded the same day and asked me how much I'd want for the damages, and I gave him a price. J hasn't responded since, and I've texted him a few times to ask for B's insurance info if J wasn't willing to give me cash.

If J doesn't respond to me soon, will I have a good case to take him to small claims court? If he does respond to me and I get fairly compensated for the car accident, could I still take him to small claims court for initially giving me a fake name and number? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've been looking for an M5 Pro chip with 48gb ram but I can't find anywhere that has one in stock!! Microcenter has a few super discounted ones, but they're all in-store only and the nearest location to me is 400 miles away. Bestbuy and Amazon both don't seem to carry them, but does anyone know if they have in the past?

I just bought an M5 Pro on the Best Buy website using a price match from Microcenter. It took the price down from $2100 to $1780. I just sent them the link for the Microcenter Macbook, and they were able to get it price matched for me, even though there isn't a Microcenter in my state. Not sure if I got lucky with the agent or not but it was a welcome surprise.

I’m thinking about upgrading to an M5 MacBook, and am trying to decide between the 15” Air (32/512) and the slightly smaller Pro (32/1tb). My main concern is that the 15” Air is just too big for me. I feel like I want a slightly smaller form factor with the Pro, while having a little more real estate when split-screening apps for school/work, and the better screen is also a nice addition. My other deciding factor is longevity. I’m coming from the 13” M2 MBA base model, and want my new laptop to last 5-7 years running smoothly. I assume that the MBP is the best move for longevity, but the price difference between the Pro and the Air is about $600. Is the MBP worth the extra cash, or will the 15” Air perform at a similar capacity for a longer amount of time?

Anyone who switched from an earlier M-series MBA/MBP to something M5, do you have any opinions on which model I should pick up?

I’m a sophomore math & physics major. Next year I’ll be studying abroad for the winter semester. I’ve taken undergraduate quantum mechanics and general relativity, but not stat mech/thermo or E&M. while I’m studying abroad, I unfortunately can’t take either of those courses, and my school is on a trimester system so when I come back it’ll be the spring trimester and I won’t be able to take the first course in the stat mech/thermo or the E&M sequences. I would really like to have these courses on my transcript as I apply for graduate school in my senior year—is there any way I can do so without just cancelling my study abroad plans?

Any advice would be super helpful.

I recently uploaded a bunch of music to Navidrome. I've been using Feishin on my Mac as my client, and I was wanting to use Arpeggi on my iPhone to access my server there. However, I haven't been able to access it (auth error). I was wondering if I'm entering the server link incorrectly. Here's what I put for my link & server name:

Link: http://<my ip>:4533 is the format I use for the link.

Server name: I named the server "My Server" so that's what I enter here.

Is this the correct formatting for the server link for when I login? Any ideas on how to fix this would be super appreciated.
