Atrocious performance despite high enough FPS

Hello everyone,

at this point, I'm honestly at my wit's end with this game's performance.

When I started playing, the performance was decent enough and aside from the occasional saving and shader compilation stutter when entering a new area, the game ran relatively smooth. Definitely didn't feel as smooth as other games, but it was ok.

Over time, performance has gotten worse and worse and now that I've reached the snowy area of the game, the game is almost unplayable.

I still typically get FPS around 75-90, but everything feels choppy, hitching like crazy, it's an awful experience. 1% Lows are pretty noticable, but even when they are high enough, the game stutters like crazy.

I noticed some errors with my LED in the Windows history and uninstalled MSI Center and SDK because of that, but the performance is still ass.

HAGS, ReBAR, Game Mode and all that shit is turned on.

Ingame V-Sync is disabled, ingame FPS cap set to 90, Reflex on.

In Nvidia App, G-Sync is set to fullscreen only (that Windows option for borderless windowed is turned on), global cap of 141 and V-Sync activated. Playing at 1080p.

I'm playing on medium settings with TSR at 58 on a 3060Ti, Ryzen 5 5600X and 32GB RAM (4x8GB, XMP1 is activated, 3000 mHz), Samsung SATA (I think 870 sth).

I went back and forth with different FPS caps, V-Sync turned off and on, lower settings, higher settings, DLSS Balanced, Quality. The game remains choppy.

I also noticed some audio crackling when talking to some NPCs.

VRAM usage typically shows something between 5.4 and 5.4 GB of 7.8, so there should be enough left. GPU usage is typically around 80 or higher I believe.

I understand that my rig isn't the strongest, but it certainly isn't the weakest either?

What's weird is that when I played Stellar Blade before, I also noticed some nasty 1% lows, but the overall game felt much, much smoother than this one.

Is this just a typical UE5 issue? Is my SATA causing this?

Seriously, I want to keep playing, but this ruins the experience for me.

TL,DR: Game performance deteriorates, game feels choppy despite relatively solid average FPS and enough VRAM.

Edit: I tried to monitor my performance with Afterburner & RTSS this time (used Steam overlay before) and now that I'm in the snowy rebel camp, the performance seems much better again.

What I did notice though is that the frametime graph is surprisingly stable, but at some points starts to jitter like crazy for a while, without any noticable stuff going on ingame. I also noticed some frametime spikes when facing certain enemies, but the most noticable thing really is that short amount of jitter that seems to cause the weird choppiness. Which makes me believe it's either the lack of optimization or there's something going on in the background that causes this.

Question about the amber pre-order bonus.

So, I found some infos a bit confusing.

In one of the trailers, it shows the hat and sword with the caption "Deluxe edition pre-order bonus". Based on other sources, we do know that those cosmetics are in fact just part of the deluxe edition and not pre-order bonus and will remain available even after the game releases.

Regarding the deluxe edition, you get the brown and black shiba skin, the cosmetics for Emma and 100k ambers.

However, it seems as if the actual pre-order bonus just applies to the standard edition and grants you the brown shiba skin and 30k ambers.

So my question is, if you pre-order the deluxe edition, do the ambers stack and you get 130k?
Or does the deluxe edition just overwrite the pre-order and you "just" get the 100k? (which is what I kinda assume)

I wonder what would happen if you get the pre-order for standard now and then decide to upgrade to deluxe later. Will you just get the remaining 70k or get the full 100k on top of your already received 30k?

Is there any info on this? I don't really trust Gemini enough on that.

Feels like I keep hitting a threshold...and it's low

Hello everyone,

so I won't go into too much detail about my life. But one thing I noticed is that whenever I have a good phase and actually bring up the will to improve, I keep hitting a point that I won't surpass.

So I fall back into old habits, old mindsets, keep it going until I feel frustrated once more and then it starts again.

I guess one part of it is self-sabotage; the fear of actually leaving your comfort zone, realizing that the next "level" awaits once you build a certain habit, establish a structure, improve in an area. Another part is not actually knowing how to proceed and to keep up the momentum. I think part of it has to do with learned helplessness.

Maybe it also comes down to not sticking to certain "schedules" long enough so an actual habit could even form to begin with.

I notice this with cleaning my appartment, establish a healthy sleep, staying away from social media, NSFW content etc.
Perhaps it's a commitment issue, that as long as I don't fully commit to the change, to the new me, I will seek comfort instead.

The problem is the more often I hit this invisible wall, this self-imposed cage, the more I train my brain to perceive my situation as hopeless. I'm beyond the point of feeling frustrated, of feeling sad. It's like I come to terms with living a mediocre, or even low life.

Being a slave to my desires, my mood, not feeling any aspiration. Not committing to things because I am afraid of the uncertainty and the responsibility that comes with it.

Sometimes I feel like I've stayed too long in that cycle of extreme, unfulfilled hope. Having enormous dreams, but not moving in that direction until the dream dies and you become complacent. It doesn't even make me sad anymore, it just is.

But there's still a part of me that wants to improve, that says "no, this can't be it. You haven't even reached half the way".

I don't even really know what my question is here. Just felt like sharing.

Maybe someone can relate and give some insight. Thank you.
