pretty opal pendant!

I inherited this very pretty opal pendant from my mother recently and wanted to show it off! It originally belonged to either my great or great-great grandmother! It's 25mm long without the bail and 3.5 mm in width with the gold encasing. What chain do you guys think would best fit it? I was thinking a gold rope chain would do the trick!

Jewelry age + stamp meaning?

I love how vintage jewelry looks, but I know very little about how to date it. Recently, I inherited some jewelry from my mom. She says it all belonged to my great-grandmother & great-great grandmother. Unfortunately, they both died before my mother was born and my grandmother won't tell us anything about them so we have no way to properly date this jewelry.

I would love to find out more about the jewelry and also find pieces styled similarly to the earrings and the clasp of the pearls, which is why I've come here for help. If it helps, my grandmother is in her early 60's.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!!!

EDIT: The pendant has a "950" stamp on the back of the bail, which I'm assuming means silver? I'm sorry for not putting a photo here showing it, I just saw it.
