Went to the new Ulta!

More of a rant about the lack of pale shades.
My town just got an Ulta on the 8th of May, and it’s so fun having one near by. Until I realized, I am VERY pale and can’t use 85% of the store. It cosmetics? No. Bare minerals? No. Nars? No. All the popular brands that every one talks about, never go light enough for me to actually use. The few that do aren’t at this Ulta. I need brands to go like two shades lighter, even in concealer. I am very glad that they have finally started adding darker shades to their lines! However, I also need ones that are next to white. Rare beauty just came out with a pretty pale foundation. I might have to try it next time I can afford it, since it’s like $36. I just wish I could buy products at the drug store like everyone else. Even when I ask the associates for help they always get it wrong because it just isn’t available. I went in and asked about cool toned contours yesterday. The poor guy told me about the ABH contour stick in half tone, and was raving about how cool toned it was until I showed him my orange hand. The look on his face was so funny. He immediately felt bad for me because he didn’t know any other ones.

Deer Creek swamp

A swamp for sale, DM me if interested.
I’m still learning how to paint water, but I love how it turned out! Foiling makes water look alive. All alters will come varnished and in a top-loader.

I think I found my wedding makeup!

I am an October 2026 bride, I’ve always done my own makeup but recently I’ve decided to save money by doing my wedding look myself. I’ve done random looks over the last year to try and get closer. I think I’ve landed on pink tones, instead of brown, I feel like it gives more of an ethereal vibe. I used the tiniest amount of makeup today as well, no foundation just concealer all over. Idk how that would actually hold on the wedding day though, so I’m doing a wear test to see. Makeup is shown in different lighting as well.
I love the eyes and blush the most, I probably will wear foundation day of.
Skincare- Thayers milky toner, CosRx snail mucin, Ponds face cream, Shiseido sun dual care spf
Makeup- juvias place concealer shade 24, abh contour but as my bronzer, Milk crème blush in Werk, Fenty powder blush in Tutu Turnt/Riri, Covergirl powder blush in Please Please Pink, essence bronzer in Sundae, Rare beauty highlighters (liquid/powder), ADA Brow pencil in caramel, La Girl concealer in fairest, Essence lash princess in burgundy, Nyx the face glue setting spray, Morphe rose frequency palette for the eyes, Morphe drip gloss in cosmic coral.

A Silent Voice-Tragic Slip alter

The top loaders make it look so official! My husband challenged me to this scene from “A Silent Voice”, an anime that he loves. Tiny people are hard to paint, but I think he turned out great! The foiling really adds to the water effect! This took a lot of layers to build up the right colors, the pink water is my favorite part.

First time painting spooky

This card was kinda loosely inspired by the handmaids tale. I saw the card title, and it was the first idea that came to me. I had a lot of fun working on it and painting the hair. The needle in the back is metallic silver so it adds a bit of texture. I thought about adding a string coming from somewhere but decided to leave it as is.

WIP for an alter idea for my husband!

My husband is a big Elden Ring fan and Blasphemous Blade is his favorite weapon. He’s asked me to draw it before, but I was intimidated by the rendering. I just feel like he’ll really love it as a card instead of a big painting because it combines both his loves. I was thinking of making it say “equipment— great sword” or “artifact— equipment” and then for the body of it “blocking creatures take an additional +13/13 damage” I don’t really know the lore to the game that much. Just from what he’s told me, so I hope he likes it and that’s cool enough. I’m also going to change the color of the wording to a white gold color so it stands out more. I used citadel paints and Holbein acrylic gouache. I used a bunch of different references for the sword and the armor to try and get the shine right

(Available for sale, DM me) I saw this patch of clover while walking my dog and it inspired me to paint them. I had a lot of fun figuring out how to do the flowers. I added the ladybug last minute, but I love how it pops off the card.

Just did this foil land tonight and I love how it turned out! The spider web was so satisfying to paint and then etch. I had an old calligraphy pen and decided to see if it works to precisely etch the foil and it does! It’s finer than a tooth pick and holds up better. I used a makeup brush to do the ombré background and it blends so well.

I made a shark alter like this the other day, and someone suggested I do rays as well. I like how the foiling at the end really ties it together. I got a new paint brush today for lettering, and it made it so much easier to do the tiny words. It’s the Royal & Langnicker 20/0 Zen brush. I try to keep my paint as thin as possible but I use a mix of acrylic, acrylic gouache, acrylic pens, and warhammer paints so sometimes they get a little textured. I kinda like the way it looks with the brushstrokes though!

Had a guy reach out for a custom version of this card. Between my dyslexia and shaky hands, I had to go through 5 versions before I landed on this one. Years of calligraphy practice paid off tho!
