Advice on RUDN dorms moscow

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming RUDN student starting the preparatory faculty year around October on a government quota scholarship.
Trying to get ahead on the dormitory situation before I arrive and would love advice from current or former RUDN students (especially international ones)

How does dorm assignment actually work in practice - is it first-come-first-served, based on application date, or something else?
Any tips for landing a spot in good and modern style dorms. How is the overall vibe there

When and how can I actually apply/request a dorm - through the RUDN portal, on arrival, or is there a form beforehand?

Any general advice for a first-time international student navigating this process?

Thanks so much in advance, trying to set myself up for a smooth move!

Does “и“ also mean “both”

I eat both bread and apples

I wrote: “Я ем хлеб и яблоки” but it was wrong
Instead: “я ем и хлеб и яблоки

Wants to be sure

Russian possessive nouns

How do I know when to use мой,моя, моё,твой, твоя and the rest. I want a trick way or easy way to learn how to use them. My teacher’s English is not that good so I need a way to understand it. I know it has to do with the masc, fem and an object thing but how do I know when to use a particular possessive
