What year/spec is it?

What year/spec is it?

I know it's Buick Riviera, but what is the "GS". It looks prime for a restomod.

The enormous rear window reminds me of my father's 1972 Buick Estate Wagon he bought just in time for the 1973 OPEC Oil Crisis. I think it got like 8 mpg.

Update 2: Side quest Subframe (R52S rebuild)

While the engine block was at the local machine shop I dropped the front subframe and replaced all the ball joints, tie rods and bushings. Damn, those bolts are on tight!!

Removed some rust and repainted the stabilizer and control arms plus regreased the steering rack and put new boots on it. Plus I cleaned up the rest of it.

It's funny, my friend Rambler Dan doesn't understand why I clean the auto parts before reinstalling. I like it looking clean going back together, like I've accomplished something. He figures they'll just get dirty again.

So .... Who's right?

Where can I get Main Bearing Cap Bolts?

I'm rebuilding my 2006 R52S engine with Mahle pistons, need to put the engine back together. Not supposed to use main cap bolts to reattach the bottom half of the block. Can't seem to find any from the usual suspects.

Am I searching for the right thing?

"2006 Mini R52 main bearing cap bolts"

I'm based in US.

2006 R52S Engine Rebuild Update1

The engine was totally seized up. Couldn't move the crankshaft until after removing the pistons and rods. I threw a connecting rod bearing, completely disintegrated. Found some of the bearing in the oil pan too. I'll need the crankshaft turned as well.

I ordered .

Local machine shop will bore and hone and clean the block as well as crankshaft. Ordered the ported head and new Mahle pistons from RMW, so there will be some! time for a few side quests.

The ball joints are completely shot, so I'll drop the front subframe and replace all the joints and bushings.

Probably will paint the transmission and some parts. Stay tuned......
