I’m lucky enough to live in a town with municipal electric. It’s not the cheapest municipal in the state, we are paying net $.20 /kWh all in. Roughly half of what folks in surrounding towns with NGrid are paying. And we have almost no power outages relative to them. Because we have employees that drive around town and proactively maintain lines, rather than paying executive bonuses to defer maintenance.

Healey already declared a state of emergency for energy prices. If the private utilities can’t beat the reliability and price of municipals, they have failed the public and therefore it’s in the public interest to take over and put them out of business. Why can’t that happen? Takes forever to change the housing market but we could stop payment on the hundreds of millions of dollars in national grid executive bonuses tomorrow.

Are they making money from employees charging?? Why isn’t it subsidized? Or at least at cost! Fine put congestion fees on so ppl don’t park the PHEV there all day but come on .25/kwh for L2 is the same as the library chargers in town.

A Model 3 RWD base in 2023 stickered for $40k. And had ~$10k of government subsidies on the hood (yes it depends on which state). So the actual price was ~$30k. And of course the market factored that in. So when articles say “only worth $20k today that’s 50% depreciation in 3 years” that’s bad math. It’s really more like 33%, which is on the better end for anything not a Toyota. Is it EV Bias?

And for higher end cars, they all depreciate differently. Maybe the $100k+ EVs depreciate more but for mainstream ones are they really that different? Don’t we need to wait and see 2026+ to know?
