Slightly weird question for moms- What music do you play for your newborn?

What kind of music do you play for your little ones, and from what age did you start?
I’ve been playing music while rocking my baby to sleep since 2 days, and he seems to really enjoy it. I’m curious whether other parents play Bollywood songs, lullabies, classical music, etc. and if there are any particular songs that work like magic for calming or putting your baby to sleep.

When did you guys start workout post partum? When did you guys resume work?

I’m 6 weeks postpartum with my first baby and wondering how everyone else approached the postpartum period.
When did you start working out after delivery, and what did you start with?
Also, when did you resume work?
And for the body changes:
● How long did it take for your postpartum belly/mommy pouch to reduce? Did you do anything specific that helped?
● What happened with the dark pigmentation on your abdomen/around the belly button? Did it fade on its own, and if so, how long did it take?
● Any postpartum workout tips, routines, or things you wish you had known earlier?

It is so difficult

Baby is turning 1 month in a few days.

The days have been close to hell. It’s like no one prepares you enough for what’s to come.

First two weeks was all about figuring breastfeeding. I still have doubts though sometimes.

Now, I am sleep deprived. I feel like I’m gaining so much weight ( was so healthy during pregnancy), can’t figure how to calm the baby except bf and letting him suckle for long time.

I keep feeling if i made the right decision, and was it supposed to be this tough. I feel clueless.

Baby doesn’t follow wake windows, stays awake for hours at times. Most of the night he wants to feed or stay on my feeding pillow, so i don’t get any sleep.

Looking at the subReddit, i feel even more scared, knowing the problems will continue for long.

Also, how to build a schedule and from what age?
Any tips on how to survive this?

Are baby carriers actually worth it? When did you start using yours?

FTM here, currently in the newborn phase and wondering whether I should invest in a baby carrier.
For parents who used one:
Was a baby carrier actually useful/worth buying?
Which brand/model did you use and would you recommend it?
How old was your baby when you started using it?
Did you use it during the newborn phase, or did it become more useful later?
How long/often did you realistically use it?

Anxious first-time mom: newborn sleeps very less

My baby is 18 days old and is exclusively breastfed. He’s gaining weight well (already above birth weight) and has plenty of wet diapers every day, so our pediatrician is happy with his feeding.
My concern is sleep. He wants to feed every 1–1.5hours and sometimes stays awake for hours on (2-4 hours), feeding 2-3 times in those stretches, just calmly looking around, stretching, and moving. He isn’t crying or fussy- he’s just… awake.
Everywhere I see that newborns should only have wake windows of 45–90 minutes, and it’s making me really anxious that he’s not sleeping enough. ( I’m guessing 8-9 hours in 24 hour window)
Did anyone else have a newborn like this? Is it normal for a 2–3 week old to have long awake periods, or should I be worried? Also, the cluster feeding every 1.5 hours is so tiring. How long did this phase last for you guys!

How do I know if baby is transferring enough milk.

FTM. Baby boy is 10 days old born of c section.

I have had a very very difficult postpartum so far because of breastfeeding confusion and struggles. I formula fed my baby using spoon for 3 days, because it took time for milk to come in. I have also used nipple shields intermittently to improve latch.

My baby needs to feed a lot frequently at times. Just today morning baby wasn’t sleeping for even none hour at a stretch since 4 am

He is having good amount of wet and dirty diapers.

But I’m worried if my supply is low and he is struggling to extract milk. There’s no milk leakage. My breasts don’t feel much engorged. It makes me stressed.

Only day 3 postpartum, and I’m a mess.

Pregnancy flew by like a dream, and I was active throughout without any physical complaints.

But postpartum has bought complete confusion.

I had an elective C section done. On OT table, one of the doctors expressed colostrum and fed my baby.

But, since that.. they started giving my baby top feeds.

Day 1- my breasts were same as during pregnancy. Literally 2-4 drops of secretions came. And baby had to be top fed.
I was a mess. Next day, situation was the same. It made me anxious and feel so depressed.

Last night, waterery secretions have started.. but baby is still hungry. He sucks very well, but there are latching issues and also, no one is telling me what to expect. How to go about it.

I took discharge from the hospital on 3rd day itself. I have ignored myself, i started walking on day 1. Getting up from sleeping position is painful, but I’m doing everything. All that i have under control. (I guess)

But really need guidance on feeding. My shirt now gets wet from watery milk, but i don’t think it’s still enough.. i don’t think baby is getting it also.. and we are still top feeding.

What is the next step? Using nipple shields? Using pump? If yes, which pump should i buy.

Pregnancy stretch marks

Did anyone face issues with pregnancy stretch marks.

I was applying Orimi bump oil and cream from 2nd trimester. But suddenly at 33-34weeks, i developed really bad red marks. And not few many.

Any ways to deal with it? And how bad does it look post partum? Any chances of some fading?

I have noticed many women don’t face this.

I gained hardly 9 kgs till 36 weeks, no swellings on face or legs. No back pain. But the stretch marks just keep appearing.

Has anyone noticed spiking values after 34 weeks? Does it get better?

I was diet controlled thoughout. I wasn’t even diagnosed as GDM, but because baby’s AC was higher, i have been monitoring and following diets since 20 weeks.
My fasting has always been super normal, and is still normal.
But post meal sucks. Even at 20 weeks i would get occasional spikes. But they weren’t high, just higher by 5 points or so.

But after 33-34 weeks, it’s been bad. I have started metformin, but still my post meal values keep spiking. And they spike upto 140 in 2 hours. But my endocrinologist still says i don’t need to start insulin.

I know people follow strict control, and keep their values below 120.

Last 25-30 days of my pregnancy! Do the spikes get better anytime? Has anyone noticed the increased values with same meals after 33-34 weeks?

GBM graduates, was there any specific thing you were asked to do during the process of delivery?

Same as caption.

Were you asked to feed within 30 mins?
Was your blood sugar monitored constantly?

Also, at what weeks were you asked to deliver? At the onset of labor or were you asked to do it early?

Controversial take on modern parenting, need your thoughts on it.

FTM, Working mom. Very driven person in general.

Any woman who embarks on the journey of motherhood, the day the pregnancy test comes positive, wants to do everything for the baby.

Hasn’t it become a bit stressful?

All the million garbha Sanskar rituals. Classes to join. Yoga for normal delivery. Emphasis on reading scriptures. Emphasis on being positive all the time during pregnancy.

Then comes the baby, and there is pressure regarding, exact minutes to give tummy time, exact parenting techniques, breastfeeding frequency, which product is best for the baby.

Yesterday, my mom was reading about tummy time and commented, i didn’t know anything about this. I have never given you guys tummy time. She didn’t follow every step of garbha Sanskar or attend classes, both me and my brother turned out pretty smart.

But just the thought, I’m not doing enough for my baby, puts me under pressure. Has parenting become harder?

EDIT- I know the goal is to just have a happy baby. And that’s my goal too. Nothing else matters. The IIT/IIM/AIIMS reference was just to say that both of us were quite calm and happy children.
When ever i go out, the first question people ask me is, have you joined a garbhasanskar class. And i haven’t. I do mediate when i feel like, eat healthy, do yoga few times a week, etc. But i keep feeling, should I be doing more, and that’s pressuring.

To all the working moms, which trimester was the most difficult to work in for you

I was super tired during first, but napping rest of the day made me feel alright enough to work

But as soon as I hit the midway 7th month, I am just lazy.
I can’t work. I feel like just lying down on the bed all day. Body is getting bigger, that’s a little weird.

I want to know if it’s just a phase, or does this happen with everyone.
