I'm 16 and living in a toxic home environment that has involved serious threats, so I'm trying to figure out my options for finding a safer place to live. I have a stable job and steady income, but I'm worried about finding a roommate online because I'm still a minor.

I'm not looking to impulsively move in with a random stranger. I want to do this safely. Has anyone been in a similar situation, especially in Ontario/Canada? How can I safely vet potential roommates, and are there better options than sites like Roomies for someone my age? What red flags should I look out for?
