Using an XR18, "adding" outputs with Y cables? (pros/cons)

so, I'm a part of a few XR18 groups, and another user posted a question and some folks suggested as a solution to their question using Y cables to double the outputs available to them from their Main L/R

is this a good, bad, or neutral idea?

Is it a common problem with a common fix with retractable handles on rack cases that stop retracting?

my rack case has this style of handle. I'm sure I'm to blame, however, I cannot recall what could have caused the handle to cease springing back into position, but it's doing exactly that

I try looking up on Google, but it just guides me on luggage...

anyone have this happen and did you solve it?

Project Hail Mary

if the fuel was astrophage, and they had 2,000,000 kgs, couldn't they have developed a system to have some of it to be reproducing on the trip away from Earth. like, it's a renewable resource right? so, Grace/all the astronauts should have had no trouble making it back home

Switched to an old-school Timex

I've had a smart watch for the past few years, but the buzzing finally got to me.

found this in a box in the house, took a risk and popped a new battery in it and SURPRISE! it still runs great!

Feature request

I primarily use the Android app for three things, two of which the app is amazing for

  1. quick research on requests I'm not 100% certain of

  2. quick transposition of keys of songs I've not rehearsed but get a request for

  3. maintaining a database of the songs' BPMs

I have to go in and type the bpm in as a custom note, and I wish it was more a part of the songs' interface like chords and transposing is

Just wanted to say thank you to the group

Earlier I did a post asking for help related to using an XR18 with a vocal mic and a floor mic, seeing if signal coming from the floor mic could somehow trigger the vocal mic to mute.

the floor mic has a talk button, and I want to use it by resting my foot on the talk button to hear folks coming up to the stage to make requests, all while keeping my IEMs in for the conversation.

A person here suggested a feature called Ducking, a term I'd never heard before.

I spent the afternoon learning a little more about my mixer and I am happy to report that it works exactly as I had hoped. now FOH won't have to listen to me chatting with someone about their request and I can keep my IEMs in for the whole conversation

you folks are the best, thank you!!

Is this possible?

Hey folks, wondering if this is a possible option?

I recently purchased a podium mic, a condenser mic with a "talk" button. It requires phantom power to function, which my XR18 can send it

The use for it is I'll have it on the floor pointed outwards towards the crowd in an off position, and I turn it on when I place my foot on the talk button, on a sort of dead-man switch.

this mic will only send to my IEMs, with the hope of limiting/eliminating the need to pull my IEMs out to converse with folks, say, making requests.

via the XR18, can that mic, receiving signal by pressing it's talk button, trigger a mute automatically to one of my other channels, specifically my own microphone?

I am not concerned about anything, just I'd love to have it automatically do that to keep the chat private instead of one side of the conversation coming out through FOH

thanks!

*Cross-posted from r/Toronto on advice from a user in the threads*

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure how anyone could help, but my gf in Toronto is really struggling with something and I'm stuck here in Halifax. 😕

About a month ago, she got the tiniest piece of cucumber stuck in her throat. after wreaking havoc, the piece dislodged, but it's morphed into an inability to eat anything that's not a liquid. broth, meal replacement, broth, etc. Anything more substantial and she's finding it getting stuck in her throat or sinus or both

She's been to and sent home from the ER twice, saying they cannot see anything. She's made an appointment and seen her family doctor who is working on a referral to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. In the meantime though, she's already down 6 pounds and is getting very, very scared

Today, she found herself terrifyingly cold, clammy, and seeing spots.

Does anyone have any experience with a loved one who needed a nutrient rich diet / food option and found one? or a solution that was therapy based or a specific clinic?

As with many Torontonians, she's from away, and doesn't really have a circle of support and loved ones in-town or in-province to turn to.

Also, she doesn't really have an excellent blender to say, take a steak and turn it into a smoothie. And, she's found the slightest thickness or grit in the food she attempts again causes that stuck-age.

I - and her - are really desperate, and I think no answer's a bad answer here

Thanks community. ❤️
