Canyon Grizl 7 tire upgrade: Moving away from G-One Bite (90% asphalt, 25+ km/h avg) — G-One RS, R, or something else?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some collective wisdom regarding a tire upgrade for my Canyon Grizl 7.
My current stock setup is Schwalbe G-One Bite Performance (45mm). I’ve clocked about 2,000 km on them, and the center knobs are pretty much gone, so I figured it's high time to look for replacements.
Here is my typical usage and profile:
Terrain: 90% asphalt (intercity roads, paved bike paths) and about 10% hard-packed gravel (no wild rooty forest trails).
Riding Style: My average speed is around 25 km/h, and I’m actively looking to push that higher. I know it’s a gravel bike, not an endurance road bike, but my current tires feel like they are holding me back.
Weather: I occasionally ride right after or in light rain, so wet grip is a consideration—I definitely don't want to slide out.
My wheels are DT Swiss Gravel LN (24mm internal width, aluminium, 25mm rim height), so I have plenty of room to play with modern tire profiles. I am leaning towards 40 mm width for the new tires — dropping down to 35 mm feels a bit too much / too harsh for real-world mixed road conditions, but 40 mm should give a great balance of speed and cushioning.
What I'm looking at:
I’m really tempted by fast semi-slicks, but I'm torn on what to pick:

  1. Schwalbe G-One RS: This is my absolute dream pick for pure speed. But I’m genuinely terrified it’s too slick, especially for damp asphalt and light rain. Will I lose all cornering confidence?
  2. Schwalbe G-One R: Looks like a very strong contender with a faster center and aggressive side lugs for cornering grip.
  3. Schwalbe G-One Allround: Honestly, I'm worried this will feel too similar to my current G-One Bites and won't give me the tarmac speed bump I'm craving. Am I wrong here?
  4. Schwalbe G-One Speed: Another fast option on paper.
    The Question:
Given that I mostly ride tarmac at ~25+ km/h with occasional wet conditions, are the G-One RS/R too aggressive/risky, or should I just go for it in a 40mm width? Also, is there any other brand/model outside of Schwalbe I should consider for a 24mm internal width rim?
Would love to hear from anyone who made a similar jump from chunky gravel tires to fast semi-slicks on a Grizl!

Struggling to connect Domyos Training Bike 900 to Garmin (Fenix 8 / Edge 850) via FTMS — any workarounds?

Hey everyone!
I’m having a really frustrating time trying to connect my Domyos Training Bike 900 to my Garmin ecosystem so my indoor cycling sessions record properly.
Here is what I've tried so far:
Direct FTMS / Connect IQ: Total failure. I installed the FTMSBiking data field on both my Garmin Fenix 8 and Edge 850, but it just refuses to find or pair with the bike.
The Wahoo workaround: The only way I managed to get anything to work was by connecting the bike to the Wahoo app on my phone, recording the session there, syncing it to Strava, manually downloading the .fit file from Strava, and then manually uploading that file into Garmin Connect.
While this technically got the activity into Garmin, it’s a huge pain in the ass, and it didn't even pull over my power zones properly.
Has anyone here successfully connected a Domyos 900 (or a similar smart bike) directly to a Garmin watch or bike computer? Is there a better app bridge, a specific connection sequence, or another Connect IQ data field I should be using?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Polar Grit X2 Pro notifications from iPhone

Hey everyone,
I'm considering getting the Polar Grit X2 Pro, but I’ve got a couple of questions regarding iOS integration, especially for those of you using it with an iPhone:

  1. Have you experienced any issues with calls or notifications not coming through to the watch from an iPhone?
  2. Is it true that the Polar Flow app always needs to stay open/running in the background (meaning you can't swipe it away from the app switcher) for notifications to work reliably?
I have a habit of always clearing out my recent apps, so I'm worried this might break the connection constantly.
Would love to hear about your real-world experience with this setup. Thanks!

Canyon Grizl (1 year old) – cable rub wore completely down to the bare metal. How did you fix/protect this?

Hey everyone,
I’ve had my Canyon Grizl for just about a year now, and while washing it today after a muddy gravel ride, I noticed some pretty severe cable rub on the headtube.
As you can see in the photos, the housing has rubbed completely through the clear coat and paint, exposing the bare metal underneath. I know some friction is normal, but this seems way too fast and deep for just one season of riding. The factory cable routing puts a lot of tension right against the frame.
Has anyone dealt with this specific issue on their Grizl? How did you fix the bare metal spot (did you use a specific touch-up paint/code from Canyon), and what’s the best way to protect it from further damage? Thick heli tape, silicone protectors, or something else?
Appreciate any advice or links to what worked for you!
