Tall desk that goes over the indoor bike for mouse and keyboard

Hi all, I'm hoping to buy a proper desk that serves the following purpose. I there to be a tabletop that goes over the bike, stable so that I can type on it, and I can roll in and out as needed (I don't always work on the bike, and sometimes I want to ride in the proper position).

I'd love to hear your suggestions of where to get one! If you can custom make one and ship within the USA, let me know as well.

Chain skipping under load on Zwift cog

Had a friend trying out my trainer. His bike has a SRAM groupset with flattop chain. Under a bit of load we noticed the chain skipping. I didn't notice anything off on the cog and I personally have never had this problem but I don't have a flattop chain.

Any idea what could be the issue?

Zwift Interactive Route Explorer

I've been slowly building a little side project that I thought some of you might find useful:

zworld.papertrails.io

I always found it surprisingly difficult to get a good overview of Zwift's worlds and routes. I wanted to answer simple questions like "Where does this route actually go?", "Which segments overlap?" or "I fancy something around 30 km that's mostly flat."

So I ended up building an interactive route explorer that includes:

Interactive world maps

Route and segment overlays

Elevation profiles

Shareable route links

A simple ride picker based on distance and climbing

It's completely free. I built it alongside a side business my brother and I run - papertrails.io - and mostly because it scratched an itch I'd had for a while.

A big shout out to Zwift Insider and What's On Zwift as well—they've been an invaluable resource while putting this together. The app links back to their route pages rather than trying to replace them.

I'd genuinely love feedback. If you spot incorrect routes, missing segments, bugs, confusing UI, or have ideas for features, let me know. It's very much a passion project and I'd rather improve it than pretend it's finished. 🙂

Wahoo app removed resistance setting - again!

Went to do my basic bike ride on my Kickr Core and found that I couldn’t control the resistance setting anymore. The UI for basic trainer control changed. This is so disappointing. Now I find myself looking for alternatives to control my kickr core.
It’s sad because I have a nice history in the app to track progress and now all that work needs to be tracked somewhere else. Grrr!

Wattbike atom v1

Im looking to upgrade from my spin bike to a smart bike. I like the look of the wattbike proton as I will be using it for general fitness rather than competitive cycling but the price is quite steep. Ive seen used wattbike atom v1s for £500-600 and was wondering whether they would provide a decent smartbike experience or if the tech is outdated. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Garmin Edge Support

They're telling me the Edge is dropping my sensors because they're "not 100% paired to the Edge." Isn't pairing binary?

If the Edge reads, "Connected" doesn't that mean it's connected?

WTF?

>On Jun 29, 2026, at 2:26 PM,

I looked at the activity from the 26th and you power meters were not not 100% paired to the Edge. Your power and cadence (power meter) was connected 58.19% with the remaining 41.81% going somewhere else.

Thank you for choosing Garmin,

Exercise bike

Hey all, I'm on the lookout for exercise bike recommendations of something that will have a simple timer for HIIT training. Looking for something that will simply allow me to pace for 90 burn for 30 for around 10 reps. Also a good solid piece of equipment is preferred, but it will be in an upstairs room.

Thanks in advance

LiteRide - A free, no signup, web, lightweight virtual cycling simulator

Hi friends,

I know there has been an influx of cycling apps being posted, and I am sure a lot of you are sick of seeing these posts, but I genuinely think LiteRide (https://literide.cyclingintervals.com/) will be beneficial to the community and not just more "AI Slop".

Zwift pricing hurts. It is great if you are into racing, events and riding with your friends, but for someone like me, I wasn't using those features. I was selecting a course, or a workout, and riding.

I built LiteRide with five goals in mind.

  1. No signup or no downloading. Zwift, MyWhoosh (the worst), take so much time to load each time you want to ride. For someone doing 30 minute weekday rides, this is very frustrating.

  2. Free.

  3. Climbs, gradients, and something to look at.

  4. Minimal battery drain / GPU and RAM usage. Mostly because I have an inefficient laptop, but Zwift and MyWhoosh would drain my battery in an hour.

  5. No lost files. I have experimented with a few different free apps, and something that has happened to me time and time again is the app crashing, or I lose internet, and my .fit file is gone.

So that is what LiteRide is. A free site that instantly loads, with minimal GPU and RAM usage, that allows you to execute workouts and ride courses, while looking at some... objects passing you by. You can happily lose internet connection, because all of the data is loaded when you first start, and there's no server to communicate with. It is essentially offline.

This isn't a replacement for Zwift or MyWhoosh. It doesn't come with multiplayer, leaderboards, events, or even great graphics. If you want something like that, I would recommend looking into BikeTerra, or Ride Cave.

This isn't a coaching app either, although if you don't want to upload your own workout you can browse through a catalog of workouts. If you are more interested in the workouts, feel free to check out https://cyclingintervals.com/

If you only care about executing workouts, Auuki is a great option. This is what I was using before I built this, but I found it a bit too limiting.

Lastly, before you try it, here are some limitations you should be aware of

  1. You can't use ANT+ in the browser, only BLE (Bluetooth), and it only supports Chromium browsers. This is a web limitation, there is nothing I can do about it. This is why most cycling trainer apps are downloaded (which would defeat my goal).

  2. Automatic Strava upload has a limit of 10 users, which has likely been hit already. Again, nothing I can do until I get extended access to Strava API which may take awhile. You can still download the .fit and manually upload it.

  3. The .fit files are deleted after 7 days. This one I can control but don't want to run out of memory on your browser.

Thanks for reading.

Which indoor training app can I use with only smart trainer and element bolt?

I like zwift but it seems very complicated to export a workout on element bolt, is there another app for which I can follow a training plan without opening my laptop?

Like Wahoo systm, TR etc..

Also why does wahoo call every smart trainer a KICKR? I use van rysel D500 with zwift cog

PedalOn.app relaunch

Hi everyone, I've been building PedalOn since December and first shared it on Reddit back in February. Since then I've been working on the feedback people gave me and improving the app over the past few months.

The app is free and you don't even need to login to access most features.

PedalOn runs directly in Chromium-based browsers. It includes both Watt-vased and Heart Rate zone Pump workouts and also lets you ride real-world routes.

Web site: https://PedalOn.app

App: https://ride.PedalOn.app

I'm at the point where I'd really value more rider feedback before deciding what to build next. Some ideas on my list are multiplayer races, ghost riders, more content, phone apps, and 3D visuals. But, I'd prefer to know what people actually want.

I've been using it regularly, and enjoy the Pump workouts the most, because they've helped me train for recent outdoor events.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

I built an AI bike fitting tool and want real cyclists to try it

Hey everyone, cyclist here. I got frustrated by how expensive pro bike fits are ($200-400+) and how hard it is to self-diagnose position issues from YouTube videos alone, so I spent the last several months building an AI-powered bike fitting tool.

You record a short video of yourself riding, upload it, and it analyzes your position: saddle height, reach, knee tracking, and more. It gives you specific adjustments based on biomechanics research. It works for road, MTB, TT, and tri setups.

I just launched and I'm looking for real feedback from actual cyclists.

If you want to test it, just send me a message and I'll give you a free trial. No card, no commitment, I just want honest feedback from real riders.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

My First At-Home Equipment: Ascend S2 Magnetic Spin Bike - White

I just got myself the Ascend S2 Magentic spin bike and it is lovely! This is my very first piece of at-home fitness equipment, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I’m loving it so far.

I’ve been wanting to get into at-home fitness for a very long time. I first found Ascend back around 2019/2020, and finally pulled the trigger and made the purchase in June 2026.

A big reason I bought this specific bike is that it connects to apps but doesn’t come with a built-in screen. I look at a screen all day for work, so this is the one space where I can connect to an app on my own terms and strictly focus on the workout.

I made a quick short video of the unboxing and assembly, and I’ll be adding more videos about it as I continue my fitness journey

Sorry there is no footage of my younger brother helping with the fly wheel attaching the front wheels stabilizer.

Schwinn 170 model stationary bike beeping and console not responding.

Hi everyone! I’m trying to help my dad fix his upright stationary bike. For a couple of days it’s been continuously beeping when he plugs it in. I’ve tried pressing some buttons and it doesn’t seem to be responding that well. He also mentioned that the resistance went up on its own and it’s basically unusable for him. Ive check the circuit board and it seems like everything is connected and nothing is loose, I checked the film as well and it seems fine. He’s talked to customer care and they can’t seem to figure out a fix for it. He doesn’t want to buy a whole new console because it’ll cost more than how much he got the bike for.

For some context, he’s had it for 7 years and he’s moved with it a couple of times. The warranty has expired. He keeps it in the garage right now and we had a lot of rain come through this last month and I wonder if that could be it? Any advice would be helpful.

I’ve attached a video of the console and beeping.

What Cycling Has Really Given Me

Cycling has given me a lot more than fitness.

For me, the biggest thing is that it helps me slow down and feel more in control again. Work and life can get pretty noisy sometimes, but once I’m on the bike, it’s just the road, my breathing, and the next few miles ahead.

The more I ride, the more I realize cycling teaches patience. Tailwind feels great, headwind humbles you, and climbs remind you not to panic — just find your rhythm and keep going.

I think that’s what I like most about it. Cycling doesn’t magically make everything easier, but it does make me calmer. It reminds me that progress is usually just showing up, staying steady, and moving forward little by little.

So yeah, it’s not really about speed or distance for me. It’s about the person I become after every ride.

My new ride: Decathlon Domyos Training Bike 900

I've been riding the same bike for several years now and I bought it used. But, even though it worked well, it was time for a change. It was inexpensive, friction resistance, chain drive and has some rusty spots. Thailand is really hard on mechanical things.

At the gym, they have LifeFitness bikes. They are great, but they're not in my budget, so I started researching for alternatives.

There is a chain of sporting goods stores here in Thailand called Decathlon. They are France as well as several SEA countries, but not in the U.S. I gotta say, I love this place. It's like Ikea, but for sporting goods.

They sell the model above, the Domyos Training Bike 900 for $560 USD. Not cheap, but not as much for even a used studio-grade bike. I decided to order one from Decathlon the next day. I wanted to hedge my bets and check out Facebook Marketplace one last time. Someone was selling the same bike, in basically new condition (used once) for $190! I got the bike.

Here are my first impressions after a short spin. By the way, I'm not sponsored or in any way connected with Decathlon.

What I like

It's rock solid. It feels as sturdy as a high-end gym bike. Very quiet. It feels like a much more expensive bike. It's heavier than my old bike, but with the wheels, it's still pretty easy to move around. I really like the fact that the metal parts of the frame are all enclosed and protected from sweat. I like the general design ethic as well.

The mechanism is smooth and quiet and uses magnetic resistance. There are 34 (weird) resistance levels and is operated by an electrical motor. If it's very quiet, you can hear the motor when it changes resistance.

There is no screen, which I actually like. However, there is a console which, in the lower half, shows speed, distance, duration, calories, RPM, watts and BPM on a white on black LED display. The top part has a shelf for a phone or tablet with a handy hook that keeps it in place. There is also a pad below the console that will charge your phone.

The bike requires being plugged in, which is a bit of a bummer, but it uses a tricky magnetic connector (like MagSafe on a MacBook) and there are connection points on the front and the rear of the bike. Neat.

I don't use these apps, but Kinomap is supported with resistance control. Zwift / Rouvy / Bkool / Fulgaz are supported without resistance control (change resistance manually).

It has Bluetooth and it recognized my Polar chest heart rate monitor, so the console display of my HR is the same on my phone.

There are two bottle holders and they are big enough to hold my extra wide bottles.

What I'm not crazy about

Frankly (and thankfully, since I can't return it), there are not deal-breakers for me from this bike. But there are a couple things that are going to take some getting used to.

There is no fore and aft adjustment of the handlebars. Honestly, that's usually the case with most bikes at this and below price point. Even with the seat moved all the way forward, I'm still a bit farther from the handlebars that I'm used to. I think that I can get used to it, though.

The handlebars are slightly narrower than on my old bike or the gym bikes. They are slightly angled up and aren't as long as my old ones. But again, I think that I can adjust to them. It's not a huge difference.

The one thing that I haven't figured out yet is the resistance knob. The knobs turns with very little effort. A couple of times, my thigh brushed against the knob and changed the resistance during a a standing climb. Oof! Whether I can adjust to that remains to be seen.

Over all, though, I think it was a good choice. We'll see.
