Caregiver - dramatic exposition of a 2023 DM spiral
Caretaker is a dramatic exposition of a 2023 DM spiral. Such things start harmlessly with thoughts of sending love and support and end abruptly... when I realize I let it go too far and go on way too long.
Our Caretaker is going through some tough times. His wife is dying and I certainly knew/know times like that. They are tough. Unfortunately he misinterprets my compassion and turns it into a grand emotional saga. The humor comes from the absurdity. The discomfort comes from how real this dynamic is for anyone with an online presence. Or anyone who is a person really. Many of us have made wild miscalculations, myself included.
Granted... As his messages grew more intense, I have no choice but to lean into the surreal comedy of it all. His sudden confessions. Unsolicited emotional weight, the insistence that age is “just a number.” It’s a portrait of a man who thinks he’s being heartfelt while instead slamming into obvious red flags.
The conversations loop. They escalate, and refuse to end. Until it was too much. And I wondered what took me so long to block him.

Demon Hunter (send your armies, bitch) - on YouTube is a bit of an experimental diss track in response to my experience with an online friend, who for years was one of my strongest supporters. Suddenly, without warning, earlier this year he began making aggressive statements suggesting he would find me and murder me and my family. So this song is an 'ode' to that experience. Interesting sprinkles of insanity and an unhinged kindness.
I'd describe it as Classic-Death Hate-Pop... maybe haha. I think of Hate-Pop as chaotic pop music that rejects mainstream positivity. An anti-pop aesthetic that is intentionally abrasive - combined with Classic Death which brings elements invoking the vocals of early death metal bands with a thrashier vocal as compared to modern death metal. But many other elements of death metal are not present so that's still probably not right haha.
On a side note, I used to post here on r/experimentalmusic quite a bit. Closed my prior account due to some excessive harassment. I think I am better able to face that now. Glad to be back and looking forward to engaging with other experimental musicians!
