The USB port of my car only supports FAT32, why can’t Windows just remove the FAT32 limit?

I lost bitlocker recovery key so I planned to format it to reuse. My car gets a USB port that can only read FAT32. But there is no FAT32 when I format it in File Explorer since it's 128GB. External USB drives and flash drives are getting bigger, yet some devices can only read FAT32. Why hasn’t Microsoft lifted this restriction yet? I’ve seen reports many times saying they’re going to remove this restriction, but there’s still no sign of any action.

Lose both BitLocker password and recovery key, any way to unlock the USB drive?

Hi everyone, I’ve been going crazy over a BitLocker issue lately, and I’m hoping someone here can help.

I have an old USB drive that’s encrypted with BitLocker. The problem is, I’ve completely forgotten the password, and I couldn’t find the recovery key in my Microsoft account either. I’m not even sure if there’s anything important on it, but I’m hesitant to just give up in case there is. So I have two main questions:

  1. Aside from the password or recovery key, is there any other way to unlock the drive? I really don’t want to risk losing any data if I can avoid it.
  2. If it turns out that there’s absolutely no way to unlock it, can I just format the drive and reuse it as a normal USB stick? Would that cause any issues?

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

I found some old SD cards and USB drives that haven’t been used in a long time. If I format them, will they still work? Are they still reliable for short-term backups and storage?

Hi, everyone. I love taking photos and have a lot of precious ones, but I don’t want to store them all in the cloud. I found some USB drives and SD cards that have been sitting unused for over three years. I’m wondering if I can reuse them by formatting them. Is this a reliable option? For example, if I want to store data on them for three to six months.
