Hello, I am looking to run Vow for the first time this Friday. Date is flexible across the weekend. I can likely bring more people who are also looking to learn Vow but anybody I bring will be new to Vow. I have run a bunch of raids before. I really want the gorgeous weapons that this raid drops.
TLDR: AI slop does nothing but damage to real art like Three Body Problem and I propose that rule 2 of this subreddit explicitly mentions it as against the rules. I apologize for the yap fest
Generative AI is like a slap to the face of real artists like Cixin Liu and the talented illustrators that helped create the masterpiece that is this series. Rule 2 states that no posts should be low effort. AI steals from real artists and creates slop that is low effort by design. The entire point of generative AI is to remove effort, which also has the effect of lowering quality drastically. Any book related subreddit is a celebration of art and the enormous amounts of creative and artistic effort that goes into the writing, illustrating, publishing, and marketing of a book. That last part, marketing, matters a lot because in a sense we are part of the marketing. Our praise, analysis, dedication, and general love for these stories is part of what pulls people in to these books which then helps support the artists who made these books. Do we want people who are curious about Three Body Problem to come here and see AI slop as their first introduction to this series? Should AI slop be allowed to taint the image that newcomers have about Cixin Liu and the team that illustrated these books? I personally think AI should be kept far far away from any community that surrounds an artist or piece of art such as Cixin Liu and Three Body Problem.
