Rebuilding After the Aspen Acres Wildfire

http://gofund.me/5ea0127db

This is a repost of a post I made earlier. It took even the Fire Chief of my town all day to get the photo of the remains of my house to me, as he has been incredibly busy with 155+ houses having burned already.

To clear the air, my mother and I each have our own GFM going. The one she has is to secure temporary housing while we figure things out. The one I have going is to replace clothing, buy food and pet supplies, help assist before I go back to college, etc. We lost everything, so anything at all helps, especially sharing.

I am also using this to personally air my grievances and express that I want absolutely no money from the following people. To those listed, I hope you feel so very wonderful about who you are as people. I personally could not even fathom tormenting and harassing someone asking for help after losing everything. u/curious_throw_away_ , u/Theoneinhelheim , u/TheeLadyGrace-Row , u/Homicidal_GoldFish , u/CC_Panadero , u/BRBSpiraling. I'm sure you are all thrilled to get to see the ruins of my life and revel in it.

To those not listed, you shouldn't feel guilt or obligation. Please, just share the link. Anything I don't use will then be donated to my friend's GFM, who also lost their house in this wildfire. That link will be included in the comments if anyone wants it to check it out.

Home Lost in Wildfire

My family just lost everything to a fire for a second time. The first was a freak structural fire, and now we've lost everything to a wildfire. Feel free to reach out if you need/want more info. We just really need help, I'm not sure we can do this again.

Pyr Keeps Running Off

Original post left below, but I wanted to add more info so everyone knows where I'm at. Odin and Willow have been found; the naughtiest chased the bear basically all day, from 7am-2pm. I called out of work to try to catch them, and was eventually successful when they looped back around to my neck of the woods. Their tracker tags are still in transit, but those will immediately go on the second they arrive. We are also getting sheep/goat electric fencing to teach them that the fence isn't optional. We might also try to teach our well behaved Pyr that his job is to babysit Odin/prevent him from escaping, but we'll see how successful of an idea that actually is. For now, they're on strict lock down until the electric fence gets put up and the tracker tags come in. It sucks, because I still have to navigate work and this, and it's a massive blow to what little money I had saved, but it's the best we've got for now.

Original Post:

I don't even know what to do anymore. My youngest Pyr (although definitely not a puppy) keeps running away. No matter how much we reinforce the fence, no matter how many walks we take him on to tucker him out, no matter what job we give him, he keeps running away. I don't even know how to stop it at this point, but it's all becoming a lot to deal with. His older brother (not by much at all, maybe a few months) doesn't do this at all. He stays in the yard, he guards his flock, he doesn't chase after things, etc. Today, Odin and his younger sister (not a pyr, a much smaller mutt) took off, and we haven't found them yet. I just don't know what to do anymore. Nothing we've tried works. I just need help at this point.

For context, he's perfect in every other regard. The constant running away from home is his only issue, although it is a massive one.

Edit, more additional context: Odin and Willow had been doing pretty good recently, no escapes for months. However, we have a year-old bear where I live that's been getting pretty bold around humans: breaking into cars and houses, unable to scare it off. We specifically have the two Pyrs because of the bears and other wildlife, they protect the house and scare them off before they get too close. However, because this bear has been getting closer and closer without a care in the world, and it apparently got too close to our house, Odin barrelled through the fence, broke it, and chased the bear away. Willow, because she's obsessed with Odin, followed.

We've tried buried electric fences, we've tried leads, we've tried only letting them out while supervised, we've tried shock collars, etc. It's a behavioral thing, as my other dogs haven't ever tried to escape and understand the boundaries of our property. It's just these two. There aren't any dog trainers anywhere near here that are comfortable in the ability to train a Pyr; as you all probably know, they're stubborn as all hell and incredibly independent. They only listen when they want to.

Absolutely Incompetent Dog Sitter

I don't even know where to begin, I'm so unbelievably mad right now. We have two dogs who resource guard by nature. They're incredibly well trained, but can still be pushed to their limits just like any human can. My absolutely incompetent dog sitter completely ignored the 4 page instructions I wrote for her about the dogs I OWN and the dogs I KNOW and decided that she was going to do things her way. She tried to drag one of my dogs out of his cage during feeding time, persistently, and eventually he bit her because of course he would. He's trying to eat, he's in his space where he is supposed to feel safe, where he knows he is meant to eat, and she's trying to drag him out of his cage. Of course he's going to get fed up with her. Four fucking pages just for her to fucking ignore them, and now I have to try to figure out what the hell to do because I'm not even in the country again until Saturday. I can't just tell her not to bother coming back, because I still have other animals that need to be fed, and no one else in the area is available to take care of them. She didn't even make it 1 fucking day before throwing all my instructions to the fucking wind. I don't even know what to do, and I'm so pissed off. He has literally never bit anyone before, and he's so fucking sweet. 8 years old and we've never had an issue because other people know how to actually listen to instructions. If my dog gets put down because of this fucking woman, I seriously feel like I'm going to throttle her. I'm just so pissed and so hurt, I don't know.
