Quick question about my first power supply and pedalboard…?

First time using a power supply and pedalboard, so go easy on me. I’m using the VoodooLabs Pedal Power X8 isolated power supply. It has two parts. It plugs from the outlet into the black unmarked rectangular box (ie the “transformer”), which then plugs into the box with all the jacks in it (ie the “router” I guess you call it - sorry if that’s the wrong term).

the “transformer” of the power supply
the “router” of the power supply

So how do I safely disconnect power from my board once I’m done using it, and how much do I need to disconnect beyond that, do I just:

A - just unplug from the outlet, leaving everything else connected but unpowered since the mains is cut?

B - unplug from outlet, unplug transformer from router, but leave the individual pedals connected?

C - unplug from outlet, unplug transformer from router, unplug individual pedals from router?

Regardless of which option I use to cut power, the power supply (both the transformer AND the router), neither of those stores any power in it once the mains is disconnected, correct?

Also I don’t need to “discharge” or “drain” anything before putting my board up, correct?

Can a human arm-wrestle a chimp and win? | feat. Devon Larratt

Was watching various primate behavior stuff and this popped up in the algorithm. I thought this video was gonna be a joke but they actually took it seriously. Very interesting. I like the way they took it seriously and debated from legitimate science and not just the trap of “omg they’re both so huge and muscular”, seems like media always falls into that but this time they approached with analysis and actual professionalism. I like the way they explained the role anatomical structure plays or can play in muscle specialization.

As a fairly well read enthusiast / layman, I tend to agree with the expert on this. I think in general average chimp vs average guy off the street, I think chimp would win. But if it were average chimp vs pro athlete, I think the athlete would win because he’s trained those specific muscles for that exact task AND because as a human he has more mass overall - so chimp vs pro athlete, I think athlete would win BUT the chimp would give him a good challenge and test of the athletes abilities in the process.

What is the community’s thoughts on this? This is what I love learning about with primatology - the nuance and comparison and contrast between modern humanity and our earlier selves 😎🦍🦧🐵🐒

Need help understanding two-amp layouts…😵‍💫

I’m having trouble understanding true stereo versus wet/dry versus dual mono versus all other configurations. This blog post from Anderton’s seems the simplest explanation.

https://blog.andertons.co.uk/learn/why-you-should-try-a-stereo-guitar-amplifier-rig#essentials-you-need-for-a-stereo-guitar-rig

Okay, so first example shown in the blog is dual mono. It’s “dual mono” because it’s a mono effects chain and both amps are recieving the exact same signal path.

Second example is a wet/dry rig. It’s “wet/dry” because one amp gets the distortion and overdrive (ie a “dry” chain), while the other amp gets the chorus, delay, reverb (ie the “wet” chain).

The third example shown is a true stereo configuration. It’s “true stereo because”….and then that’s where my confusion starts.

The third example shows the signal path as follows:

guitar>distort>od>chorus>delay>reverb>amp a
………………………………………..delay>reverb>amp b

So what exactly makes that “true stereo”?
Amp A gets the full chain, while Amp B gets only time-based delay and reverb. So why is that true stereo and not some other configuration?

What is meant by true stereo? What differentiates “true stereo” from other configurations?

Questions from a noob with his first toob amp 🤓

Monoprice 15. My first tube amp ever. It’s a basic rock and roll amp. A lot of people say it’s a clone of the Laney Cub or a generic version of a JCM800, but to me it sounds like a Bassman or Champ if anything. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How do I get that classic “great tube tone” and “tube saturation” everyone raves about? How do I find my amp’s “optimal tone” for both clean and overdriven/distorted settings?

For reference, the Monoprice starts breaking up very early at only around 1/3 gain giving a basic overdrive sound a la John Fogerty / CCR, and then around 12 or 1 o’clock is where it turns into a full on distortion sound a la Doobie Brothers. Anything past 1 o’clock or so the type of grit stays the same, just adds more of it. The volume / power amp starts distorting at around 2 or 3 o’clock. So really if you set gain and volume at the steering wheel “10 & 2” setting, that’s when you start getting grit. Anything else before that is clean with maybe some dirt if you bash the strings hard enough.

So with that said, what would be good settings that would get my amp to the sweet spot of “optimal clean tone”? Same question for getting that “classic tube saturation” that everyone raves about?

Also I plan to upgrade the stock speaker eventually. What is the difference both volume and tone-wise between V30, Greenback, and Creamback? What would each give or take away from my amps stock (rocket 50) tone?

23 Years of Safety... Destroyed in One Night 💔 Help Us Rebuild Their Haven! 😭🐒

Vervet Monkey Foundation lost one of its enclosures 💔 please help if you can 🙏

Vervet Monkey Foundation is a renowned sanctuary in Tzaneen, South Africa that takes in sick, injured, orphaned, and ex-pet Vervet and Samango monkeys. Due to extreme weather and floods, one of their enclosures was destroyed. A troop of wild monkeys also was able to enter the enclosure and wreak havoc on the monkeys who live at the sanctuary resulting in injuries and dispersing of the sanctuary’s monkeys. The sanctuary monkeys are okay, most of them are being housed in temporary enclosures, a few are still missing and are still being searched for.

While the sanctuary’s monkeys may be okay for now, they still need a new home enclosure to live in. I know budgets and finances may be tight right now but this is a phenomenal group that has done so much for these monkeys and the local community, please donate if you can - even if it’s just $5 or $10. Every little bit helps. These monkeys deserve a new place to live, can you help them rebuild their home? 🙏🐒

Some pedals have rubber feet on em. This height difference, however minute, makes it difficult for velcro to get a secure hold on the pedalboard. How do you fix this? I know there’s several ways - layering alternating strips of Velcro, using popsicle sticks or paint stir sticks as shims, etc. Personally I’d just as soon rip the feet off but I don’t know if they’re acting as grounds or dampeners or if they’re supporting any circuit boards or what have you.

So what would be the best option to make it so the bottom of the pedal is completely flat so that I can just put a single strip of Velcro right down the middle and have it be completely level?

The pedal in question is the TC Magus Pro if that makes any difference
