REI Mastercard--opinions?

Hi,

I was considering applying for one because I like the rewards they offer, as well no foreign transaction fees or annual fee. However, I have seen many negative comments about this card, specifically Capital One and their customer service (or lack thereof). Many of the posts I have found here are from many years ago, so I thought I would ask what people think in 2026.

I am interested in comments from anyone who has the card--would you apply today knowing what you know now? Any problems using this card abroad? Any other comments or advice?

Thanks!

So I went to the audiologist...

I told him my issues with very sensitive hearing and how I viscerally hate many human-made sounds, especially the pickleball in the nearby park. The first bit of bad news is that I have significant wax buildup in both ear canals, so the ENT will remove that next week and then the audiologist will test my hearing. I said, "OH great, so now my hearing will be even better!" "It will be incredible", was the reply. From having had this done before (decades ago), I know this is true. I almost felt like (jokingly) asking if they could do the opposite and just put some more wax in there!

He also told me that he recommends the Mack's "pillow soft" silicone putty earplugs. These are only 22 dB as opposed to the current 33 dB Mack's foam ones I use now. He said that they may just work better in any case because they will fit my ear canal far better than the foam ones, and I can use them again and again.

Also, he doesn't know anything about ANC earbuds! I am looking at buying the Soundcore by Anker Sleep A30 Special Sleep Earbuds with Triple Noise Reduction System but he had no ideas about that one or any other!

So, kind of disappointing, but I will go through the process and maybe see whether the ENT can add anything useful.

Aside from that, I am wondering how to find an audiologist that specializes in misophonia...Any advice? Thanks.
