Chem Faculty PCC

Hello I am a student at Mt. SAC looking to take chemistry ast Pasadena city college because the faculty at my college is not very good. Does anyone have any good instructor recommendations that just doesn't read of the slides and is actually willing to help students and make lecture engaging? The instructors here at Mt SAC for chemistry are just awful and don't care about students and wanted insight.

(Edit: I also wanted to know if taking the "introductory" general chemistry course helps or not, since people say it's the same material)

Openstax Chemistry 2e lecture videos

Hello,

Does anyone have lecture videos based off Chemistry 2e? My instructor uses the book but I find it's just him reading off the book instead of going into detail explaining the ideas, so if anyone has any lecture videos similar to the book topics that would be very helpful, I tried reading the textbook and doing examples but I find myself learning passively instead of being active. I also tried organic chem tutor but many of the examples in the book tend to be more complex.

How to approach hw post lecture

Hello,

I already made a post similar to this on this subreddit, Im using the kleppner textbook for my intro mechanics course at my cc, my cc requires that you do trig mechanics before calculus based, I feel like I have a good foundation on the ideas from the prereq but I'm having trouble on my class right now. The textbook my professor uses is known to be challenging and it's normal to not cover every example in class obviously due to time. But I feel like the transition from lecture to hw is a huge gap and I often find myself lost. I tried tutoring but many times it's just people who assume a lot of the problems are plugg and chugg and just find myself stuck. Office hours do help but a lot of the problems take time, does anyone have any resources to practice problems or lecture resources short or long form videos, similar to the kleppner textbook topics? I want to be prepared for my other mechanics based courses as an engineer and I feel like I won't be prepared for those courses.

Mechanics Kleppner and Kolenkow

Hello,

I am taking mechanics at my community college and my professor is using the Kleppner textbook, I'm struggling with the transition between lecture and hw, I tried going to office hours and tutoring but I'm just lost, does anyone have any advice on how to have a smoother transition or any resources, mnemonics, or note taking tips to apply all the lecture and theory to the problems, I feel like I'm completely lost when trying to do the hw.

Chem Department Mt SAC

Can we talk about how poor most of the chem department is? Many of them cannot teach, it's just textbook regurgitation especially for hybrid courses and there's no student instructor interaction, especially in the lab portion a lot of the labs are here just do it with no explanation on what you're actually doing. I wanted to know if you guys are having this experience too because frankly this is just ridiculous.
