New to DIY and just looking for a little advice. I recently built a shiplap wall and want to use corner molding because my shiplap corners didn’t turn out the greatest. The issue I’m running into is that the trim and the corner molding don’t line up very well.
I was thinking about either using paintable caulk to help blend everything together, or possibly cutting out the covered part and mounting the corner molding on the thicker part of the base instead. I just didn’t know if there’s a better solution or if anyone has any ideas.

I attached a picture of what I’m talking about. I know the picture isn’t of the actual shiplap wall since I haven’t installed the trim on it yet, but it shows the base trim and corner molding I’m planning to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
